End of the line for S&W steel semi autos.

I have no problem with polymer-frame weapons, but once I saw the 3rd gen pistols are completely off the new site I will be stepping up my acquisition plans for a 5906 and a CS9, and buying up a stockpile of parts!

I love the steel and aluminum guns, but for concealed carry polymer is king. It absorbs recoil really well and the guns are quite accurate. I currently carry a Kahr CW45 and find it easy to shoot well.

I carry a 6904 just fine. The recoil is nothing really and it's an amazingly accurate little gun. I get great groupings at 10-15 yards for a compact.

Consider the C-more reflex sights. Same electronic guts in an aluminum body or a polymer body. The aluminum costs $300, polymer $200.

Sad that one of their best products is gone, the 3rd gen guns were some of the best autos on the market.

This just chapps my privates.
I dig SW metal frame autos. I carry a 4040PD every freakin' day, everywhere I go. If you see me in church, you know it's right there with me........ I have yet to shower with it though.

I never liked plastic guns when they came out with the Glocks and I sure as heck won't be changing my view toward any other plastic guns. I open carry a full frame all steel 9mm auto with 5 spare 14 rnd mags and never get so tired or lazy that I feel the need for a light weight plastic pistol. I don't understand or know why there is such a huge push for concealed carry and CC firearms but it seems to be all anyone talks about in the firearms market place and/or tv shows. So if S&W stops making metal auto's then I will just hafta look to other brands like Beretta, EAA and CZ for my future purchases or keep my eyes open for good used pre-ban S&W's at the gun shows.

I enjoy my H&K USP, Kel-Tec P-11, Ruger KP-95DC and Ruger 22/45, but none are as satisfying to hold, and feel the heft, as my 439, 5906 or 6906. There is something about the ergonomics and weight that makes the others feel like toys. Accurate and reliable toys, but plastic toys nonetheless.

You said EXACTLY what I was going to say, but you said it better than I could have...:(

I think it's bogus that the Third Gens are being so badly treated. They're very solid and durable pistols. But since they aren't plastic, it's time to get rid of them.

Not only that, but Smith & Wesson is still making 1911s. How come there is no room for the Third Gens?
