A few weeks back I took a class on revolvers and I kind of enjoyed it. So I went out on the range with a friend and he let me borrow is 686SSR. I really had fun blowing 200 rounds in less than an hour, it would have been faster but we had to cool the pistol down. Man those suckers get hot. I was actually getting good at the quick reloads. So now I will be adding the 686SSR into my collection along with all of the support equipment. I have been shooting Semi's for over 40 years and I had no interest in revolvers. I thought that I would never enter a revolver in an IDPA match. Never say never.

Welcome and don't look back. I used to shoot strictly the Colt 70 Series 1911 in "Action" handgun matches. But then, there I was watching the Revolver class and bored senseless. Went out and bought a 625, had Nelson Ford work his S&W magic on it, and I LOVE to shoot the revolver in Action matches. You can get to where you can do a full moon clip change as fast as a mag change. Plus, I gotta tell you, I loves the .45ACP round in a big N frame. Nothing better out there IMO. I confess that I converted a pretty nice 28-2 to shoot .45ACP with a 4" barrel. I wanted to cut the barrel to 3" but I couldn't live with it reading: th & Wesson.... &^)
Try something with full moon clips and you'll see what I mean! H

Wait until someone hands you a revolver set up for Moon Clips and a few boxes of ammo already in clips, you'll be stunned at how quickly you can "consume mass quantities" of ammunition without ever having one single hot casing smack you in the head or drop into your shirt.

I concur, whole-heartedly with M1's sentiments. Nothing quite as refreshing as firing some .45 ACP, or 10mm in an N-frame revolver. Once bitten, by the S&W bug, it's hard to resist buying another.

You thought that you were hooked on semiautos...HAA HAA....now feel the power of the revolver. They are so addicting, you can get so much more power from a revolver than a semiauto. plus most semiauto calibers are also revolver calibers, 9mm, .40s&w,45acp, 10mm...plus we have fun calibers like the .357 mag, .42 mag, .44 mag, .454, .460, and .500...you can not get any more power that that...They are a beautiful thing,,,WELCOME TO THE ADDICTION!!!

YES. I love my revolvers over my pistols. They are awesome to shoot and you don't have to case brass. Just don't get a 45 ACP revolver. Let the old and/or hadycapped use those calibers.

I have a 20 yr old 686 that is creme de creme I recently had a person who opened his wallet and said name your price.
Just one of a kind that is a pleasure to shoot. It'll knock the center out of the target too.

Got a JM 625 a couple years ago took a little to get it cleaned up just right ...... but oh my when I did.

You will be shocked how fast 20 moonclips will disappear.

Learning to use speed strips too, I'm surprised how fast you can load a 686 and 642 when you really concentrate.

Sure glad my wife has her eye on me or I'd be sneakin a few new shooters the way home.

You poor soul. The first revolver you tried was a 686SSR, with a trigger right out of the S&W custom shop and Ferarri lines. Nothing will ever get better than that.

Wait until you handle a 627 with a 2-5/8" barrel, 8-round cylinder and a boot grip. Talk about looks and firepower. Don't let the short grip and barrel put you off. It's just as easy to shoot as a 4", nearly as powerful and a lot easier to carry. If I need something longer than 4", I use a rifle

revolvers are real guns

been carrying autos for protection more last couple years,although i also use a snub 38 or 357 for backup.but for just pure recreational shooting and hunting revolvers have it all over automatics for me.better trigger pull ,usally way more accurate in stock guns.and way more powerful.i have both and a good 44 special,44 mag or 45 colt has it all over a 10mm auto.also not nearly as picky to handload for.if it fits in the cylinder it'll work.shoots any thing from light target loads to full magnum.last time i went to the public range i took my 44 mag and 45 colt.a bunch of the auto guys came over and wanted to know what i was shooting.one guy said "man that thing was clobbering that stuff you were shooting at".i know that i'm getting older but i can't believe how many people have never even shot a revolver.enjoy-the more you shoot them the more you'll end up owning.
