I have two of what is called "The General" in one of my gunsafes. One is a USMC issue H&R Model 65 Trainer the other is the civilian version. This advertisement is from November, 1944.
My cousin being a big Ruger DA revolver fan at the time, and me being a S&W fan, had a friendly rivalry going.
When the Ruger ad came out, he never missed an opportunity to needle me about my skinny "anorexic" S&W.
When the S&W response ad came out, I took to hiding those little take out ketchup packets you get at fast food places in his range bag whenever we went to the range.
Great fun to get home and find a message on my answering machine from him cussing me out for those packets.
Glad to see others chiming in with advertisements. I thought this was a worthwhile thread when it first started. Lets keep it up. The Moderators may want to think of making this thread a sticky. Lots of history here.
Not only will you not find many---if any, advertisements for this one, you will also have a tough time finding one of them. This was one of the first SCARY plastic guns.
