I recently purchased a 9 Shield new from a gun show for concealed carry. I was cleaning it prior to first fire, lubricated it, replaced the slide, and was distracted prior to flipping the take down lever back into place, tipped the gun forward a bit and the slide slid off and dropped onto a ceramic tile floor. The fall knocked the rear sight to the right about a third of the way out. No matter what I tried I couldn't move it at all, eventually I dinged up the sight trying. S&W tech support paid for shipping, replaced the sight, shipped it back, all at no charge under warranty even though it wasn't a product defect, but instead was an old codger who dropped it and broke it before firing a single shot.

That rear sight is really crammed in tight! I considered buying a sight pusher but was deterred by a couple of reports by people who bought a $130 sight pusher that specifically fits the Shield and breaking the pusher trying to move it.

Great to hear that ! I am just curious how long did it take from when you shipped the gun to S&W until you got it back. I need to send one in and don't like to wait .
Thank you in advance !

I liked hearing about your experience with S&W. They went above and beyond for you. My experience is not as dramatic as yours, but I had a gray part that was slipping out of one of the magazines and without any resistance they promptly sent the piece out to me the next week no charge.

My experience with Glock on the other hand is the polar opposite of S&W. In my situation, Glock tries to make it so inconvenient for the customer that I would have to take the gun to a Glocksmith and they would have to order the part and install it. It would probably taken a month to have a defect fixed correctly.

My 9mm 4.25" has accuracy issues. I love the pistol, but it won't shoot a 6" group at 12 yards. I was about to order a WC Match barrel when a buddy suggested calling Tech. Well I called today and within 10 minutes after never even being placed at all, I printed a shipping label and FedEx is picking it up tomorrow where the CS Rep assured me they would fix my pistol.

So far it's impressive service!

Me too impressive service. I had some M@p 40 mags that were not tripping the slide stop they sent springs no question asked. I was planning on buying them as they had some age.

I have nothing but good things to say about S&W customer service.
I haven't needed them for anything lately but back when I had a 22a, I accidentally broke the little plastic recoil spacer one day and called customer service, with the intention of buying a new one. They sent me 3 of them for free. They arrived in about 4 days.

They did the same for me. Dropped my 500 mag landed on the front sight and bent it. I know be more careful. I had the gun dealer that I purchased the firearm from send it back to S&W. I went back after a few weeks to pick the gun up, asked how much do I owe you? and they said nothing no charge under S&W warranty. Definitely made my day. Glad to hear you were taking care of as well. S&W has my respect and my business ;)
