I have noticed in the past that the slide on my 40ve will move side to side about 1/16th of an inch if wiggled by hand.Today while dry firing realized that the slide when pulling the trigger slowly, moved ever so slightly to the right, and when the trigger released (fired?) the slide moved to the left a good 1/32nd+ viewed from behind.Has anyone else noticed this with they're sigmas? Gun has always shot left.I was thinking that if the slide guides could be spread to eliminate the slop, the gun would shoot straighter, but not sure of best way to spread the guides, or if I should.600 or so rounds through it so still new, any suggestions?

My 40VE does the same.

any suggestions?

The normal play in the slide is not causing the groups to go low left, and if you were to tighten up the slide somehow, it would not function correctly. The .40 Sigma is capable of much more accuracy than the average Sigma owner can match.

Concentrate on the front sight and pull the trigger smoothly back without "milking" the grip and moving the gun just before it is fired. Have a friend load a dummy cartridge somewhere in your magazine, and when/if the gun moves on the dummy cartridge, there's your answer.
Dryfiring with a quarter balanced on the gun helps (you can send me the quarters that fall off to provide more motivation) ;)

The quarters never fall of when I dry fire,I noticed the movement while slowly pulling the trigger, when the sear releases the slide kicks left.FriendsXDM has very little play in the slide.

see my thread on the matter

i sent it back to smith and wesson, and waited 3-4 weeks for return.
upon return it was fixed, but after 200 rounds its back to having some play.

mine was mainly up and down, but is exactly as you describe.

you could send it back, and have them work the trigger at the same time (tell them its gritty) but if thats all you are having done, then skip it.

not bashing S&W at all, but i believe that it comes down to manufacturing tolerances.
mine only has about 5-600 rds through it and hasnt worn much, or at least shouldnt have worn all that much.\
i field strip and clean meticulously after each time i shoot it except once camping, i went two sessions without a real cleaning. but even that was only a weekend.

send it in if you want, but im just saying that mine did, and still does, the same thing.
