If the black rifle disease has taken over your gun safe or cabinet this might help. At first my shelf was used to hold my hand guns, with the main section for a little ammo and bag. But now its plagued with riffle ammo. The only solution i came up with was to get the hand guns on the door. I search online and found various on the door solutions but they started getting pricey or didn't fit my little cabinet. So i had to make my own. Everything i used i already had at home but i priced them for reference.
Materials:
Velcro roll from wally's $4
Swatch of vinyl @ Jo-ann fabrics $2
If you don't have a carpet lined door i used the following:
3/8 in peg board $4(might get lucky and find scrap from hardware store like i did and pay .50
)
Carpet from jo-ann, $6/yd
Adhesive spray at jo-ann, $3
If you want to save money sign up for jo-ann frabics email via the web and you'll get a 40-60% of coupon sent every week.
The carpet to the peg board is pretty self explanatory. Spray adhesive to pegboard, or other wood you might have, and carpet. Let adhesive get tacky before joining the 2 by waiting 90-120 secs before attaching. Use razor blade to cut carpet to fit.
For the straps i took a few pics when i purchased a couple handguns and need more.
Cut a piece of velcro that will wrap around & over lap hand grip.
Attach that piece of velcro to the back of the vinyl, and cut it out.(tip: heat up sticky side before attaching it to the vinyl with lighter)
Cut a piece of the felt side of velcro. Attach it to the vinyl side at the end
Do the same thing for the barrel and you should have this
I used standard velcro and it holds perfect.
Let me know what you guys think
Put a 10lb weight to the velcro and it didn't budge. Even swung it and it held perfect. Doubt i get a 10lb pistol
