How well are your guns sighting in with open sights? I am finally getting some free time next week (Turkey season) and after I am done chasing the gobblers I want to sight my 15-22 in. I want to try open sights. I have some JP springs on the way from Brownell's and I am going to see how well they work too.

How tight are the groups and what ammo are you using?

I am going to shoot the Fed 550 value pack and velocitors, That's what I have plenty of on hand.

The only upgrade so far was the Hogue grip

Iron shooter

I like iron sights also ,mine shoots well with the fed bulk pacs
I shoot at 3 inch steel plates at 70 yds
and if I do my part they go down easy... I havent shot it on paper but Im sure it would be good

I don't know how tight my groups are, but I've been shooting 6"x6" steel plates from about 175 yards away with iron sights. I put my Millet scope off my AR15 on the 15-22 earlier and had a blast with it. I like to see how far back I can get and still hit stuff lol.

I have the talo version with Magpul MBUS
Iron Sights are great
Got about 20 to 22 hits (on Avg) on a steel plate the size of a sheet of paper at about 150 yards out

I also have the Hogue Grip and its great
Ad a Magpul AFG and the gun will be at home in your hands
Very nice grip to it. I highly recommend it.

There are a number of threads with pictures showing the accuracy.

My sights were low and left by quite a bit.

I was shooting at 25 yds, ballistically, that would imply they were low at 75 yds also

Point of aim at 25 is darn near point of aim at 50 so 25 is a good "get on the paper" range. 50 is better. 75, a range rarely surveyed, appears to be the best "battlesight zero" range for this rifle and the M16 sight system. It's within an inch of point of aim most of the trajectory.

Someone posted a very nice trajectory chart recently.

Zero the irons, then move your co-witnessed red dot to the tip of the front sight post.

The nice trajectory chart you refer to shows 25/75 as the points of aim:
