That seems to be a common problem with some Pro-Mags and Also some Thermold Magazines. It doesnt happen all the time and not with all magazines but occasionally you find one which doesnt lock back, in your case I would say that you got two. Sorry thats the best answer I can give you and that is not from experience with the pro-mags but from what other forum members have experienced. My thermold 20's always lock back but I had 2 thermold 30's and one would and one wouldnt. You can try to take the mags apart and stretch the spring so that it puts the follower tighter against the top of the mag, and I wouldnt recommend loading them completely full so that you dont over compress the spring.

Problem solved. Just got back from range. It was the BAD lever from Tactical Link that I had on. The rifle did not like it. I removed it and all is well.

It was a Tactical Link brand. I just ordered a Magpul BAD lever and dont think I would want that problem. I just read in their advertisement that they are not compatible with a M&P 15-22 could they also not be compatible with an M&P 15

I just chatted with a guy that told me to remove the one I had. He said he had a feeling that my Tactical Link one could be the source of the problem. He had the Magpul variety on a non smith wesson ar 15

sent email to Tactical Link this morning to hear what they have to say. After all, if you were counting on your set up and thought you have a type one malfunction only to realize that you dont after trying to fix it could be costly

I've seen more than one person cuss the Magpul BAD lever. I wanted one, but saw to much bad press to bother with.

Seems like all battery assist devices have problems regardless of the manufacturer. If they work for you, they seem like a nice add on though.

Here is Tactical Links reply. You decide if you want to run a battery assist device on your system:
Thanks for letting us know if this issue.

You may want to replace the bolt catch/release spring. We've seen this problem completely resolved after doing such. A good spring that comes to mind is the one Colt uses.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Do people have the same problems with Magpul BAD? Inquiring minds want to know? LOL

in a word YES. The guy that had one from Magpul had probs and he relayed to me to try running without my BAD/lever and it solved my problems. It seems to be hit and miss with these devices. Some have no probs others do. If you search google with something like...bolt wont stay open on ar 15 ....or something to this effect you will find posts from other forums where guys have had this problem despite the brand. If it works for you..great. I am not going to chase down the fix with my gun. I think if they know of a problem, which it seems they were aware of it, then they should include the spring and or make it part of the kit/directions. The sprng cant be that expensive. Especially if it IS the fix.

I have a Magpul B.A.D. lever on my sport and I really like it. I have had no issues yet but my rifle is brand new. I wonder if as the rifle wares in that the bolt catch wares a little bit causing these problems. The little plate that you use to secure the B.A.D. lever is the culpret. If my bolt catch starts to ware and I have this problem I will remove the back plate and screw it right to my bolt catch paddle lever. I love the B.A.D. lever that much! It makes loading so easy. You can slap in a mag get on target load and shoot all the time staying on target. And if you want to lock the bolt open and it feels uncomfortable to raise the lever to lock the bolt you can still use the bolt catch paddle the regular way.

yeah they are cool no doubt. But if the SHTF and you think you have a type 1 malfunction and you go through your tap rack procedure only to find that you should have r and r the mag and charged it instead, you will think it isnt that cool. reloading isnt that bad with my BCM charging handle and slapping the bolt release. With the BCM charging handle I can operate it with one hand without removing it from my shooulder. The BAD, IMHO and when working, really helps with clearing malfunctions by locking the bolt back easier.

Well I will give it a go, I am such a tinkerer that if I have similar problems I will chase down the fix. The spring on my bolt catch button is pretty stiff so I shouldnt have any problems, but I am crossing my fingers now.

the odds are you will be fine. If not, you will know instantly what the problem is. For how long you will be fine is another question. Try it will all your mags though. Maybe have the colt spring handy just in case?

The 15-22's lower receiver isn't the same exact spec as a big-boy AR15. It takes a couple gentle bends to get it to work.

I've affixed Magpul BAD levers on my two AR's and have no issues.
