I just got back from my local gun shop, and they had a model 49 Bodyguard in the case. It looks like it hasn't been shot much, but it has some pitting. It's a consignment gun priced at $295.

Any thoughts on what a fair price is?
It would be my #3 humpback, so there's not a real need, just a 'want'.

With the pitting I would want no more than 300 out the door. I love my little humpbacks and I wouldn't mind picking up a coue of shooter grades myself for the right price.

Depending on the degree of pitting and your gun budget, you may want to pass; the other two Bodyguards you have may get jealous also ;).

I have a soft spot for the Humpbacks. If mechanically sound, $295.00 is okay, but I'd offer $250.00, cash OTD. S/he will probably counter with $275.00 - $280.00, and I'd probably set a new land speed record for whipping out the cash to pay for it.

Let us know what happens.

Good luck,

Dave

It depends on what you want it for. I always like to come across a cosmetically imperfect specimen. If I find a perfect gun I tend to be much more conscious about how I use it. If that 49 was mechanically sound I'd love to carry it hard without worry. See if you can own it for $225.

I called and offered $275 today only.... I'm just getting back from buying it. (he had refused my offer of $250 earlier) $275 out the door - today was a tax free holiday here in MA.

I think it's sound mechanically, will have to get it to the range next weekend for a test spin.

Will post photos later today.

I like the way you think. If this shoots nicely it might end up my edc.

Congrats sir! How do you walk away from a mechanically sound J frame for that money? I see you're in MA so if you decide you to change your mind let me know!
