Fair Warning On BANNED Topics

It is telling that is filmed and put on the internet to be allegedly amusing. My dad would not have been filming and debating, he would have been supervising me cutting my own switch that was about to dust the seat of my pants.

I get the willies just thinking about telling my father listen listen listen...and he would have been right to immediately end my attempt at unruly behavior.

That first broke in 2014. The kid would be 9-10 yoa by now. I wonder if Linda still thinks he’s cute . . . ?

We are all part of a society and societies have rules. Breaking the rules has consequences, which is part of our problem today, folks don't want to follow the rules and complain when they are held accountable. I have been dinged and took no offense to it. Generally, my infractions were due to ignorance or a little to much happy sauce. So, I took my warnings learned my lesson and moved ahead. That is what most citizens do, however every once in awhile we get those who either won't or can't follow the rules. The Amish shunned them, the Puritans used public humiliation and the forum mods use points and banning. All effective methods to enforce the rules and motivate rule compliance. Thanks to the mods, I know it isn't easy, but without it we have anarchy. People need structure. I know I do - my wife is happy to provide it for me.

Living room shuffle

As an old man, I remember doing "the living room shuffle" with my father, as middle aged man I remember doing the "living room shuffle" with my disobedient son, and as an old man I see many that did not LEARN the living room shuffle! This forum is a privately owned, FREE, and public forum which has rules! Play by the forum rules or go else where, we(being the general population of this forum) don't want the disobedient!

PS: That's not an ape! It's a silver back GORILLA! ! !

There were 5 of use kids..........The most heart chilling sound was a leather belt whistling as it came out of the belt loops on Daddy's pants.

The number of times our various moderators keep sending this to the top makes it obvious that they really need to get the message out!

When you think about it, whether you like certain rules or not, it all comes down to practicality. With thousands of posts a day, how could they possibly parse each word, weigh each sentence, ponder the motivations of each poster when they decide which posts can stay and which to delete?

They just don't have the time.

Yes the rules are broad and arbitrary. They have to be. Get over it.

It really is embarrassing to see grown men act like that little brat in Steve's video.

a dialogue

Me, to many Airmen through my 28 years in the 'Force: "Why are you getting out"?

Typical Airman: "I don't like being told what to do."

Me, years later when I'd run into one of those guys: "How'd that work for you"?

Airman: "I should have stayed in. People have been telling me what to do all my life."

Life is easy. Some folks choose to make it hard.

I try my best to comply with forum rules - they're reasonable and one of the reasons the forum is as good as it is. BUT, on more than one occasion I've forgotten which gun forum I'm on, and what's allowed on other forums is not allowed here. It's not at all unusual for moderators on the other forums to post with comments that would result in serious action here. Just have to be careful whose house you're in.

Note that there is a point system...

After reading the last sentence in the statement above, I'm wondering why the same people get away with the same thing repeatedly.

Note that there is a point system and a clear list of consequences. Points expire. It is a very fair system. I don't think that the moderators are happy to ban anyone permanently though repeated offenses will earn you various vacation periods. It keeps nearly everybody that actually wants to be part of this forum in line. I've never seen a more well run forum

I get whacked all the time, and I’m always good for it. Some are totally unintentional, and some I know I’m gonna get whacked eventually. Most of the latter are always a particular sticking point I have with forum rules. I know it, the moderators know it, and some posters know it, and it’s never gonna change. Most of the time I just shut my pie hole, but if I don’t have any unexpired points, sometimes I kinda push it. All good, and every once in a while I misunderestimate it and take a little sabbatical. All good . . .

This is a great forum. I don’t post as often as some because I do respect the rules. Rules are rules so better to obey them. I can post forbidden here topics on other forums that allow such.

Just out of curiosity I have often wondered who does own the forum? It may provide some incite about the rules.

Look at post #63. You have to read the rules to know them. It ain't that hard.
