It's finally cold enough here in North Carolina to wear a jacket all day long. I enjoy this change of season because it allows me to upgrade my CCW from pocket carry to hip. I ordered a new Blackhawk leather speed classic holster for my 642 no lock, it's proving to be a very comfortable and secure holster for hip carry. I also have another speed loader and a double pouch on order so I can start carrying more ammo.

Anyone else upgrading their CCW package now that jacket weather has arrived?

Yep. I can carry a K or L-Frame revolver in an OWB holster under a sweatshirt. I also have an IWB holster on order for my N-Frames.:) Looking forward to reporting on that with pictures once I get it.

I love carrying in the winter I usually carry my 625-3 in a custom kydex holster and a moon clip holder... or my model 19-4 in a leather holster...I was thinking about buying another 642 and carrying both of them in a new york reload from our friends at Bell charter Oak.

Yes, I am carrying bigger. My Summer carry is a Model 60 or 640. Now I am sporting a 3" Model 65 or 2 1/2" 66. I carry on-the-belt year round -- I just leave my shirt-tail out or, like now, wear a jacket or coat. I have very nice Mernickle holsters for the K-frames and a Missouri Gunleather holster for the J-frames.

I used to play the seasonal game but gave it up this year and carried (cross-draw) my 2.5" Model 66-2 almost every day this summer. I did cheat a few times and only carry my 2" 36-2, also carried cross-draw. I usually carry the 36 as a back-up to the 66, also on my belt but in a slide type holster at about the 3 o' clock position. When it got really hot I just wore my holster(s) against my bare skin under a t-shirt, something I never did before. Usually I can get away with a very lightweight button up shirt over a t but that can get kinda uncomfortable when the temp's get in the upper 80's & into the 90's.......

I generally only pocket carry for quick trips out to the store & back, no matter the season. I feel that getting it out while seated in a vehicle would be pretty hard to do in a hurry so I stick with what I feel the most comfortable with defensive-wise, not temperature-wise.

I'm lucky in that here in Michigan it's not a crime to print.
I used to take steps in order not too but now if I do print once in a while it's no biggie.......;)

Just how secure is the Blackhwak Speed Classic? I'm basically a "thumb-snap" guy. However this holster might be just what I "need" for my new 442. Something comfortable the "gits-r-done".

There is no way the gun is falling out of this holster. It has to be drawn with a sharp tug. I also had to insert and remove the gun several times to loosen up the holster, it was very tight out of the box. The portion that curves in behind the trigger guard puts a lot of friction there, and secures the gun very well.

Well, I carry my 24 3" all year in an IWB, but I will be adding a backup in my jacket pocket, probably my old Detective Special.

My winter carry is not much different from my summer carry. In winter I tend to carry OWB a little more since it's a little easier, but my weapon choice doesn't change. Always either a M&P 45c or 9c.

I carry a M&P 9 full size year round, 2 spare mags because I only have one mag carrier and its a double. I *may* on occasion carry IWB during the spring/summer/early fall if the particular tshirt of the day isn't quite long enough to cover the holster properly OWB.

I'm a creature of habit, and just prefer to keep things the same and simple no matter what the mercury is doing outside.

I uisually carry IWB, but in colder weather, with flannel shirt, jacket, sport coat, I can more easily carry OWB- brand new Mitch Rosen, and love it. As comfy as the CB-ST is IWB, the MR is still better.

I just started carrying my 66 snub, and use both IWB and OWB holsters...much easier now that I am wearing bulkier clothing for the fall/winter...

but have a 340 M&P on order :D , so that I am ready for pocket carry or IWB or ankle carry next spring/summer.
