Fantasy Build -- the perfect belt carry revolver

"Smolts" and "Cougers" (Colt barrel on a Ruger frame) were very popular in my area for "gun guy" cop guns back in the 80's. I have always wanted a Couger badly.
Curious why would a different barrel make a difference on a revolver? Was it the length they were going after? Say if Ruger didn't make any 4 in barrels but everyone wanted one.

The barrel affects the accuracy, balance, looks, controlability, and carryablity of a revolver. Length is just one thing.

Mine would be in .45 Colt.

First would be a fixed sighted N-frame with a 4" tapered barrel.
Second would be a 3.5" Model 25, with all the finery of a like Model 27.

A 329pd with a thicker blast shield and a dehorned sight system.

Ok, I'll play.

I bought the 627 Pro Series specifically as a an 'ultimate' carry revolver - and I carry it frequently. Changed out the sights to a set of Cylinder & Slide fixed 3-dot, changed the cylinder latch and stippled the back strap to give a bit more traction with the smooth grips.

If I want something a little smaller to carry, it would be the Wiley Clapp mod'd GP-100. Fixed Novak sights, chamfered chambers, smoothed edges and a trigger that rivals any S&W I've ever shot.

4 inch Model 19. Why mess with perfection?

Because you can get it in stainless as Model 66, which is even more perfect. :D

If concealment is needed, the M-65 or the three-inch barreled M-66 is about right, or if concealment is even more needed, Model 60, probably one of the Jovino guns with three-inch barrel, a stainless version of the M-36-1. Works really well with factory rosewood service/Magna grips and a Tyler adaptor.

My four-inch M-66-3 was my most carried duty gun from 1990-retirement in 2012. It worked very well on a Bianchi River Belt with their Model 5BHL holster, although I also wore a similar Safariland Model 29 on a different belt. El Paso Saddlery has very similar items, and I now recommend them. (I had a bad experience with a Bianchi spokeswoman when I asked about a holster for a Model 60-4, and their current holsters seem to be made in Mexico.)

Don't overlook the Ruger SP-101 with three-inch barrel, either. It's certainly the smallest .357 that I plan to fire.
