Favorite caliber?

I do have a least favorite caliber, and it is 9mm. I shoot a lot of .38/.357, and it's the only handgun caliber smaller than .40 that I shoot. For revolvers, it's .38/.357 and .41. For semi's, I shoot .40S&W, 10mm Auto and .45 Auto. I plink sometimes with .22LR and .22MRF. I own two 9mm pistols, might as well sell them for all the use they get.

Only shoot three rifle calibers, .308 Win, 300BLK and 6.5mm Grendel. I do have a 7.62x54R, but it's rarely shot.

in auto pistols .45 acp. in revolvers .357/38. In a rifle I like the 30-30.

In a rifle: .308 / 7.62 x 51mm; .223 / 5.56 x 45mm and .220 Swift
In a revolver: .357/.38 and .45 Colt
In a pistol: .45 ACP, 10mm, 9mm and .32 ACP

In all three: .22 LR

I hate them all cuz they cost me money! I now shoot more .9mm than anything else but I love .44 sp. .45 auto and .38 Sp. followed by .357 and .44Mag. I also love .22 and shoot it quite a bit as well.

Hands down the venerable 45 Colt. I'm primarily a hangun hunter (Skeeter Skelton, Elmer Keith, and Bob Milek screwed me up at a young age.) This cartridge is the 30-06 of handgun rounds, it shoots practically anything you choose to feed it with excellent accuracy, from mild to full throttle. In a strong revolver like a Ruger Blackhawk it will leave a 44 Mag hanging it's head in shame. Don't get me wrong, the first centerfire hangun I ever owned is a Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 I've had since 1976, and it's been the demise countless deer, coyotes, and small game. But my nearly as old Blackhawk 45LC can be handloaded to levels, mild or wild, the 44 mag can't match.

If I were young and still hunted and worked it would be 9mm carry, 38 special back up for handguns, and 270 for rifles and 12 ga for shotguns.
Now being retired my choices are 22lr for handguns, 22 for rifles and my defense 12 ga. For centerfire handguns it is my trusty old 38 which I pocket carry.

My favorite caliber in handguns is 45. The cartridge, the 45 ACP, specifically the 45 ACP revolver. After that, it is a toss up between the 38 S&W Special and the 32 S&W Long. But those last two combined account for less than 5% of my shooting.

It's hard for me to pick one caliber overall. If I had to choose only one it would be .22LR. Otherwise my list is below!

Revolvers -.38+P
Levers- .357 mag
1911- 45 acp or 9mm
Anything else! -.22LR
