Favorite range revolver????

My 19-2, without a doubt. Beautiful to look at and I just love the way 158gr magnums thump the palm of my hand.

I also take my 617 and 686 to my gun club often. I shoot 2-handed at 25 yards, so I don't see "one hole groups". My 617 is new, so it takes 10 rounds. I wish I had a 6, since our club has a 5 round loading max. It's harder to line up a 10 due to less space between chambers. I only shoot .38 special wadcutters in my 686. Why beat myself up?

My favorite range gun and my new daily carry is the 640 Pro Series I purchased on Monday. Took it to the range yesterday and the 3 dot night sights are Great. The round goes exactly where you want it and Performance action is smooth as glass. I shot 25 .357 mag 158gr. FMJ with no discomfort and the recoil was manageable with a firm two handed grip. Looking forward to years of taking her to the range and carrying her daily.

Ahhhh.... tough question - which ever one is in my hand is my favorite at that moment. But the 686+ 6" seems to follow me to the range most often.

Lately I have been shooting an old 8-3/8” M27-2 and having a lot of fun with it at 100 yards. The Patridge sight is a big plus. I also take along a 5-inch, but the black front ramp is not nearly as old-eyes user friendly.

Now that the crummy weather is approaching the outdoor shooting has wound down and indoors I will be shooting a newer K38, probably from the early to mid-70s, and a “Bowen K32”. The Bowen gun is a Model 14 remodeled into a .32 to give me a “shooter grade .32” - and it is a killer with either Speer or Hornady swaged wadcutters. :)

It`s tough to pick a range favorite...I like my 1911`s, Pythons, and post war N frames, but the pre war N frames that are worn or refinished and not too valuable to shoot are pretty special to me. Like this prewar non-registered .357 magnum that has factory installed post war barrel (was a 6" I had cut down to 3 1/2") and rear sight.

I took the range picture to remind myself how much filing I still need to do to the rear sight to get it zeroed in after running out of elevation screw adjustment. The group to the right was six rounds double action of 130 grn 38 spl fmj`s and the other six rounds double action of .357 mag 125 grn hollow points that I will carry in it after I get the sights worked out.

I have just been LOVIN' this thread! I have put at least 100,000 .45 ACP's downrange from 1911's and have great affection for that platform. However, that said, I am really a revolver guy at heart. Recently, I have been shooting the S&W Model 520 the most:

This is the way it looks now (after I lost the vision in my right eye, I switched to red dot sights):

However, in all truth my favorite range and field revolver is this one - my S&W Model 625-8 Jerry Miculek Special with Pachmayr Gripper grips:

Here's a target shot from my Model 520 - 25 yards, standing:

Here is one of my better targets from my 625-8, 25 yards, standing:

Those targets best illustrate why these are amongst my favorite revolvers of all time

Understand, no argument whatsoever, with everyone else's choices. They all tend to stir my blood!

I have a 29-2 from 1974 with a 8 3/8 inch barrel that is my favorite range revolver. The long sight radius along with the trigger make it a real accurate and fun gun to shoot.

I think the Black Powder Revolvers are often over looked. A day at the range with one of these and a friend is hard to beat. Of course clean up is mandatory, but any task large or small do it right or not at all. This is my Ruger Old Army 7 1/2 inch black powder revolver.

My favorite handgun to shoot of all that I own is the Model 686 Plus 4" barrel. I did all the trigger work myself. It's accurate and fun to shoot. I only shoot magnum rounds through it. It's the only way to go. Ha!
