Favorite Semi-Auto Pistol? Other than your Smiths...

Have to go with my Hi Power. Years ago, Bill Laughridge did some nice work to it.

Thanks for the compliment, most folks think that it needs to be refinished.

I see no need to refinish it. Frankly, if you did, what you'd end up with is just another refinished Colt that looks just like every other refinished Colt.

I do shoot it. I have heard all about soft metal and poor heat treating, but those guns were made to be used and loved.

Good for you, glad to hear you shoot it. I've heard the stories about the soft metal and poor heat treating, but I've never actually met anyone who has first-hand knowledge or experience with it. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to fall for that story just a couple of months ago, and because of that, I lost out on a 1918 Colt (at a great price, by the way) that looked fine to me, in spite of having lost about 85% of its original finish. I won't make that mistake again.

Sig P226 Tacops, 9mm, with the funky plastic extended magwell grips replaced with a set of Hogue checkered aluminum grips.

This pistol has completely wrecked going to the LGS for me. I haven't found another full size 9mm pistol that both fits my hand, is as accurate in my hand, and has a better trigger. The only reason I've had a CZ 75 matte stainless on order for 8 months is because I've wanted one for a few years.

No more pistols for me. I have what I like to shoot. :)

I love your Sig. I have a 1995 German Made P226 myself, and it is the best single thing that I own. Better than any of my watches, cars, other guns, anything.

It is unmodified, strictly a factory set up, and I have used it to Out-shoot race guns a few times.

One suggestion on your Sig, get some Hex-Head Grip Screws for it for $10.00

Colt 1911s, followed by a good P35. I carried the 1911A1 below during most of my Iraq tour. It had a Colt frame and a Remington Rand slide. Unfortunately, I had to leave it behind when I left. The 2nd one below is my accurized hardball service pistol that Jim Hoag in LA built for me. I've used it off and on for 20+ years with the USAR Service Pistol Team.

My favorite Browning is this 1989 forged-frame MK III that had a few modifications while I was at FT Bragg. 5 lb trigger, mag safety removed, rowel hammer added, Novak sights and parkerizing the slide was all I had done, but it's perfect for carry and weekly practice. It feeds everything, is rugged and looks good.

My HP was done by C&S....Jimmy did the trigger on my HP after it developed hammer follow...oh, and thank you for your service!

I do not carry it often, due to the size, but I will always own a Beretta.

This one is just cool.

I have a bunch of favorites but the one that stands out is the P7.

Back in the mid 1980s I wanted a P7 in the worst way. I was really jealous of my much more affluent neighbor when he took my advice and bought one. Twenty years or so later, I found two ANIB P7s on consignment in a LGS. I bought one of them and still regret not buying both.

Well I have had a lot of S&W revolvers but my three Favorite pistols are Sig pistols and a Browning HP and who can skip the Colt Government 1911.

NICE!

Sigs are actually my first favorite semi-autos! In the past I owned a P220, P229, P239 and P226! I didn't discover S&W 3rd Gen semi-autos until later! :)

I currently have a W.German P228 (approx 1995) and W.German P225 (approx 1984)! Not nearly as pretty as these but both are outstanding shooters!

Stop showing those H&K P7's please they remind me how stupid I was to sell one of each M8 and PSP...Sometimes my stupidity even amasses me..Why H&K discontinued that model and went to pistol that clone's every other so called modern pistol.....I guess they are as dumb as I have been at times......

I'll be nice then and not show a picture of my H&K P7 M8. It looks like the others anyway. As a lefty, I consider the P7 M8 the ultimate combat pistol.

Ditto. Except it was before the 1980s for me! Never got that done.....not yet, anyway. But my parallel desire was the BHP; I was very happy the day I got that one home.
