Absent Comrade
On the only other gun forum I visit (and I'm about to give up on it) there was a thread about rattlesnakes. I was pleased to see that a number of posters felt as I do: I won't kill a snake unless it's him or me, and it hasn't been him or me for over fifty years. I've sat on the bank of a pond and watched a two-and-a-half-foot copperhead hunting frogs eighteen inches from my boot. He wasn't bothering me, so I saw no reason to bother him. But other posters on the rattlesnake thread clearly hated the critters and wanted to kill them on sight. Many people have a terrific phobia about snakes.
I don't, but I have an absolute hatred of rats. I've seen what they can do to humans, especially children. I used to see and hear them in my grandfather's house when I was a little boy. I guess it's almost a phobia, but certainly is a loathing.
Heights scare me. Put two pairs of socks on me and I'm a little uncomfortable. When I was a firefighter many years ago I would do ladder work, but I hated it passionately.
All right, I've admitted two of mine--what are some of your phobias/hatreds, excluding people or political persuasions?
