Feeling really down

I hurt for you, KTP. It's part of the contract we make with our pets, to do the right thing when life is a burden for them, but it's terribly painful to perform that last act of love.

We are in the midst of caring for our cherished Mr. Jai, our tabby cat

He received some serious injuries to his jaws and face.

Surgery and now, thank God..........recovery.

These innocent beings touch the most clean and pure aspect of our hearts.

For this I am very grateful............ but the price is deep pain.....

I feel for everyone who loses their little friend....God Bless You

John

KTP- About the hardest thing I ever had to do was to let go of my Molly girl-then a month later myGinger girl followed by my Katie I miss them every day, and have spoiled Sarah outrageously, but She is worth it. Pets are part of the family for sure. A little prayer for Peeper, and hope you are holding up. You did the right thing. To let them suffer is NOT the right thing.:(
Best,
J. R.

Sorry for your loss... we had to put our 16yo Jack Russell down last year and we still miss him! But remember all of the good times :)

losing a pet is like losing a friend and a family member....as had been suggested earlier maybe a trip to a shelter to rescue another pet will help....sorry for your sorrow

We understand your loss and share the deep feelings we all have for our pets. Had to say goodby to two of our Golden Retrievers in the last six months. Remember all the great times you had with them, and brace yourself.... there are other critters out there that are looking for you. Two 4-month old English Cream Golden Retriever pups found their way into our home a week ago. I didn't think I could ever be as fond of another dog, but am finding room in my heart for these two: Daisy & Duke.

Mom and Dad.....

Just know that you did the best thing for Peepers, as unpleasant and saddening as it seems, it's still the best. We've been there. My wife wouldn't let me put our Heidi down until she had already suffered way beyond what she should have and was going to die soon anyway. Believe me, what you did was the best thing.

thanks gentlemen

I just wanted to thank you all for your kind words, sympathies and shared stories of loss of our "friends". I know in my heart that what I did was what had to be done and that Peeper was beyond my help. I hope she knew I was there with her to the very end. I know I could not live my life without animals in it, even though the raw pain of having to see them over the Bridge is truly heartbreaking. Thankfully I have many pictures and memories of Peeper and will make up a collage and hang it on our Rainbow Bridge wall in the mudroom. I guess I am blessed (or cursed, depends on your perspective) to have 5 other cats, 2 dogs (a Bouvier and a shelter Lab), as well as the 11 horses. Again..... my sincere thanks for helping me get through this afternoon.

So sorry for your loss--the one and only pet that was truly mine I had to put to sleep--feline leuk--was supposed to be clear of it...guess not. But we can be so thankful for the love and joy they brought to our lives.

My best wishes. Larry.

You did what a loving pet owner had to do under the
circumstances. Losing a pet is hard. Sorry for you
loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have been there. From my perspective you are blessed with the other animals. They will help you through this and when you are ready you might just find a fuzzy little ball of energy there to steal your heart away.

im sorry that you had to put your cat down. its a miserable feeling. i had to put two dogs down two days apart in january who were elderly. you gave her a great home and a good life.

You're not alone my friend, we have all been there and done that. I too posted about a year ago after the loss of my sweet naughty aussie Link was put down. Cherish the memories! We're here for you...

BTDT, hated every time. It is the last duty we owe our friends for all the good years. Rest easy, Peeper.

My condolences-we adopted a grey kitten in '76-she died in '96. I rescued a stray while working in St. Louis and took him home 125 miles. My wife recently passed and my daughter is now helping me take care of my 5 cats and 2 dogs-anyway there will always be another furry child of a lesser God who needs care.
