I have had it with the cheap Pachmayr, B- Square, SW branded sets made in China, cost $10 or so when on sale. Think they are all the same except for the name. They are OK to throw in a range bag.

I want a little better and not spend a fortune for some of the real expensive ones so I bought the Chapman #8900 kit. Appears to be good quality and made in USA. Around $30. Works for any guns I want to take apart. Did not buy it direct, but this is the company site.

Chapman Ratchet Kits for Allen, Bristol, Phillips, TORX fasterners.

A good screwdriver set is a MUST. Nothing worse than buggered up screw heads.

+1 on the Brownell's!!

I've got a Chapman set around here somewhere. They'r OK except first thing to do is lose the rachet. If a screw is tight enough to need a cheater, you are likely to either bugger the screw or break the bit and scratch the work.

I have that Chapman set at work. VERY nice. More sizes of flat blades would be nice.

I've found that the cheapo "4-in-1" screwdrivers you see at any hardware store work pretty well if you need a "Large" or "Larger" hollow ground flat blade. The "Larger" fits my 10/22 takedown screw perfectly.;)

Found a set with a decent selection of hollow ground blades at Home Depot. Mind, I am NOT a gunsmith but like to have the proper driver. For anything, really. I really don't understand why hollow ground isn't the standard.

I bought a gun screwdriver set from WalMart and have been very happy with it. The selection in the set has allow me a perfect fit for the screws I wanted to remove.

Likely the one thing I bought from WalylWorld I was happy with.

HIGHEST RECOMMENDATIONS for the Chapmans for VALUE.

I have had my set for thirty years.

I am sure that those sold by Brownells are of higher quality.
At a higher price.

Almost bought a BIG set of Brownells here on classifieds some months ago, but was too late. An early bird got them.

Sorry for the contrary post but I have broken so many Chapman tips that I put them aside for other sets.

I've used my Chapman extensively for over 30 years. No broken tips yet. For over 20 years it was my ONLY set of gun smith screwdrivers. The compact set could stand a few more size choices.

Mine's in the little red box. Didn't know they have a different set up now.
