finally got my brass punch kit delivered today and borrowed my neighbor's gunsmith screwdriver set.
so, i was ready to finally install it.
total time, including marking the original position of the sights: 15 minutes!:D
didn't need to heat the sight set screw, came right out with the proper 1/16 bit in the screwdriver handle.
only had to tap the sights about 6 times till i could move it by hand.
put in the new parts and tapped the sight back over, about 8 times to make sure it lined up with the original position.

MAN, what a difference. the trigger pulls as smooth as if the slide had been removed and it wasn't even touching the USB.

can't wait to install the rear sear and spring kit!

Sounds good, Just order truglo sights and the apex shield kit! Debating whether to let my LGS install everything for 110 dollars or attempt myself. I'm not a novice but not a gunsmith

Does $110 include the kit? If not take it someplace else, your getting ripped. The job takes less than 30 min. to do, and if you have the right tools and experience less time. $110 plus the kit is $200. not worth it. I did mine on my Compact with a borrowed sight pusher from my LGS in about 20 min. and it only cost me $88 for the kit. And I had to clean up the striker block bore, it had a bad burr in it.

Speaking of overpricing when I was browsing my LGS for APEX kit installation, one store wanted $89 for the DCAEK with free installation, and another store wanted $100 for the kit plus $80 installation, the other gun store not only did it with free installation, they gave me 10% off too, and they charged me $50 for the polymer AEK trigger and installation. It all took like 15 minutes

110 dollar is to install the apex kit , truglo ft. And rear sights and sight them in.

Only you can answer if it's worth it to you. For many, its not. None of that work, is difficult to do. The front sight is harder to do without a sight pusher than the rear. The DCAEK is easy if you have set of punches and a hammer.
