Finding any 9mm ammo?

so tell me this, you know its been made who is holding back
the ammo you know how fast its manufactured silly

The Walmarts in my area get just small batches of ammo. All the stores shelves are empty, except for a few odball calibers. They can go 2-3 days without any amminition being delivered, then get 15 different calibers of ammo, which lasts an hour or two. Corporate Walmart has issued a maximum purchase of 3 boxes per person. They just rasied the 9mm Federal Champion target ammo from $11.97 to $13.97 for a 17% price increase.

I found 8 boxes of Federal 115gr in the case at Wal*Mart today and bought 4 of them. Probably should have gotten them all. They were 13.98 each. Everywhere else I looked the shelves were barren.

Found and bought some Federal 9mm packs from the local Walmart recently. Prices are up about $2 per box since I bought some the last time.

My local Walmart seems to be getting more and more in. I bought a couple of boxes of PPU 9mm and box of WWB Value pack .40 as well They are limiting you to 3 boxes of ammo per visit no matter what caliber.

Walmart in Layton, Utah Saturday afternoon had 8 boxes of 9mm PPU 9mm 115 grain in 50 round boxes for &14.97.

They limited me to 3 boxes. My wife was with me so they allowed each of us to purchase on individual tickets 3 boxes each.

Manager informed me they have not received any notice they can not order ammo, but did tell me there are Walmart back East that have stopped ammo sales.

I would have liked to be a fly on the wall when Joe Biden spoke with the rep. from Walmart.

If the White House can't pass gun control measures the next best approach I can see is ammo control and I would not be surprised if Walmart is getting some political pressure especially in blue states to pull the plug on ammo sales.

I know Walmart jumps through a lot of hoops for local governments when it comes to zoning requirements and it would not surprise me to see mayors and city council members with a liberal slant turn the gun control screws on businesses that sell guns.

Don't kid yourself, illegal or not it happens especially in local government and the Walmarts of the world play those games all the time. If you question me look no further than Mexico. Walmart just last month got busted paying off local governments in return for building permits.

I looked at Fleet Farm and all they had was a couple of boxes of really expensive Hornady.

Walmart was sold out, then the clerk said, "Oh what is this?" and grabbed a box off the floor that was stuffed with packing paper and one lone box of WWB. I took it for $13.48 and three people behind me groaned... :D

Fleet Farm did have 30 boxes of Winchester Wildcat .22 for $1.89 each. They don't have them anymore... :p

I talked to the manager at my local WalMart (who happens to be a HUGE 2A guy). He said the way it works, it this:

-Ammo Manufactures Produce the Ammo.
-Distributor and Buyers (Fin Feather Fur in my area) Order the Ammo.
-Manufactures put everyone on a list in the order they sign up for ammo.
-Manufactures set a base price for the ammo then move people up and down the list based on IF they are willing to pay more for the ammo.
-Those who are willing to pay more for it, get it first. Distributors tend to get it first before an LGS.
-Your LGS then has to buy from the Distributor and the added cost is passed on to the LGS which is passed onto you.

He said the WalMart Distribution Centers are not going to pay more for ammo (because they are cheap and would rather save money), so they will take what they can get when it comes in.

Not defending WalMart, because they are part of the problem by buying cr*p from China, but they are not raising prices on ammo, but they refuse to pay more for it, so they are not getting any in either.

My Local Outdoor Sporting Good Store (Fin Feather Fur in Ashland, OH) is paying more for ammo, so they have something to sell. If they don't raise prices and pay more for ammo, they have nothing to sell.

If WalMart doesn't have ammo to sell, they will sell you some wiper blades or some diapers or a garden hose. Point being, they stay cheap by being cheap and do not rely on sporting goods to make their money.

I didn't see any fmj 9 mm on your link.

I have surfed the internet and there just isn't much target 9 mm available and I am not going to camp out at Walmart for the truck to be striped of ammo in 5 min.

If there is one thing I have learned is cheap ammo (9mm & 22) is now the most expensive as a percentage increase over retail before Sandy Hook.

I am seeing prices for both ammo types double online and 9mm has sold online at prices comparable to 45 auto inflated prices.

What this tells me is there are more 9mm owners vs 45 auto making demand for the cheap ammo far out pace supply hence the greater percentage increase. My Economics professor was right.

Got 3 boxes (50 rd.s each) of Federal 115 gr fmj 9mm for $13.97 per box :D Only downside was I missed that smokin hot Beyonce:( It was worth it:D

Dang we had 115g federal as well but they had it listed for 17.75... Our walmart blows!

great call Justin69! I picked up the 100rd boxes at $21ish a piece. They also had WWB in bulk boxes, too.

I just got back from the Reynoldsburg, Oh Walmart. They had 10 boxes of Federal Champion 9mm, 100 rds each for $21.37. I expected the Walmart GMJ but these are the FMJ. Seven boxes left after I checked out.

I see that there is the Federal 9mm 50 count in stock at the 24 hr Walmart near me. I'm tempted but rather hold out for the 100 pack. Much better value

IT'S OUT THERE!

I visited my neighboring state last weekend and found pallets of 9mm ranging from $320to $380 per thousand depending on brands and bullets. They also had .40, .45acp,
38 special, .45 long colt, .44 special, .380 and .22lr . in a couple different stores. All on pallets
While I was there I picked up several cases of 525 round Federal hollow point bricks. On my way home I picked up 3 2100 round ammo cans of the same Federal .22's as well as some some American Eagle .22's. I also bought and an M&P 15-22 and a bunch of 12 ga. 00 buckshot. Did I mention the 500 rounds of 5.56 before I finally ran out of money
Before you jump on me for being a hoarder or gouger, all this ammo will end up going to my friends and family that failed to prepare for the future. I will keep the rifle for myself.
Your shortage is either letting up or hasn't hit out here yet.
