After a somewhat unpleasant experience with my former insurer, I am shopping for insurance again. Who are you insured with and what experiences have you had with them? I was insured with Eastern, but their failure to respond to email/phone calls on a non-claim issue left me doubtful that I would be happy if I should ever should have to file a claim with them. I am currently looking at Gun & Trophy Insurance who seem to have very reasonable rates.

For comparison purposes, the price I've been quoted is about $3.14 per $1,000 of coverage with a $500 deductible. So, for example, coverage for $50,000 would be $157 a year while $100,000 would be $314.

Gun and Trophy Insurance. They are about one quarter the cost of State Farm. I know most the guys I shoot with have them and Larry the owner is great to work with.

I haven't bought gun insurance for many years now. I keep all my weapons in QUALITY gun safes (2000 lbs. or more) and my home has a complete alarm system (opening detection, movement sensors, IR sensors, etc.) My house system is monitored 24/7 with 10 minutes police response time. For the money I would have spent over the years on insurance, I could have purchase several of the home security systems I have.
