If systemic racism were the norm - as so many want to claim - then why would the whole rest of the world be so hell-bent on coming here? Even if getting here means risking life and limb?
Money. Minimum wage in California is $16/hr. So $2560 a month while in your country it is $213.
If Canada had a $250/hourly minimum wage I would be there. For the older people here, remember the Alaska pipeline jobs in the 1970s? I know a lot of people went there. It was a “Gold Rush”.
HAVANA TIMES – “It doesn’t stretch far enough,” is a lament heard up and down the impoverished Central American isthmus, voiced by the masses of workers who earn a basic wage that’s not enough to cover their needs. The situation pushes many into the informal market or impels them to emigrate. In Nicaragua, the minimum monthly wage – equivalent to US $213 dollars a month.
