Firefox update

I have no problem seeing the comments. I have no JAVA.
I do have the following two plug ins which showed up all by themselves. I don't know if they are relevant or not.

OpenH264 Video Codec provided by Cisco Systems
Widevine Content Decryption Module provided by Google Inc

Thanks. I have those plug ins also.

I cleared everything, deleted temp files and all that stuff.

Seems to work now.:)

Ah computer stuff:eek:

No Scrips was the only extension I was running. It is not there right now, but the gremlins that try to force feed ads to me do not seem to be there either. I personally like Firefox. Chrome is good too, but I am set in my ways. Did somebody say they might use IE (Internet Explorer?). Is that browser still out there? Live, learn, and grow better. Fear not new technology.

My main complaint with 57 is that No-Script and TabMix Plus don't work anymore. I am using other substitutes for No-Script (not as good IMO) but can't find anything like TabMix offered.

I will update as soon as the compatible NoScript becomes available.

firefox update.....

I have FF & got some sort of a down load last night..

With my lack of computer skills, at this moment I see nothing different except it does appear to be a little faster!

same here, and yes it is faster...........we try to stay away from clicking on buttons or tabs off to the side.............

Mine seems to be working fine, it is faster. I don't have any plug ins or add ons that I'm aware of, I don't know what they are so I guess I don't need them!

I use Chrome now, but keep Firefox around for my email. They seem to trying to make it Chrome though. ******* seems to be better than previous versions. I lost some addons, but can live without them. My 2 cents.

The new NoScript is a fresh look and I think I like it so far. Gotts find out what all the checkbox options mean under custom. One thing I would like to see is when something hangs, it reports which script is the culprit.
Right now I also have noscript,ghostery,whitelist-javascript, decentralize and Umatrix also filtering.

What I have found in the new FF (57 either 32 or 64 bit) is that I cannot run any youtube videos as I keep getting a comment that a "rtsp" is missing (or words to such effect). Any ideas? Dave_n

Real Time Streaming Protocol. I have no idea why it would be missing from your system, or how to get it. YouTube was blocking folks that were running ad blocking extensions/add ons from watching videos. I'd try reinstalling FF-57 without any extensions or add ons and see if you can run the videos.

It just occurred to me, go to your Add-ons Manager and click on Plugins. There should have been three which were automatically loaded. They need to be there and active, especially the to one I marked.

So I updated to FF57 and went to the 64-bit version while I was at it. Some observations.

One of the big deals with FF57 is multiple thread processing. I had a gotcha in that somehow in the Performance area of options, my browser was set to one thread and that was the default. Don't get that as FF57 is supposed to have a default of 4. Something must have been leftover from the legacy version of FF that I removed. Setting threads to 4 made a BIG difference in performance as monitored using the task manager accessed via CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.

The new NoScript is so-so. Not sure i like the new interface, and every time I go to the BBC websites I get a slew of cross-site scripting (XSS) warnings. I may have to install an ad blocker to get round that issue.

My bookmarks made it to the new version intact, phew! So far all the sites I usually visit look the same and load quickly. The square tabs look blah, but I understand why they went that way.

Many thanks. All of the three are present once I went back and reloaded the 64 Bit version but still no luck with the Youtube videos. I thought it might have been my VPN, but switching that off still gave the same response about rtsp lacking. Guess I will have to attack the Mozilla help systems. One thought might be that the Windows 10 upgrade also occurred during this time frame. Ah well, who needs youtube? Dave_n
