Well I always thought about trying, and never got aroung to it until recently. I started, and now that's about all I wanna do! I love starting with a roll of leather, and finishing with something I can use for the rest of my life. I have included some from the time I cut the pattern to mking sure it fir, to when the wet molding was finished. enjoy the pics.

That's very nice work - it looks more like your 100th effort than your first.

well I have spent about 6 months studying different designs, and my wife is perhaps the most brilliant crafter I have ever known. I have watched her make thousands of items over the years, and I finally decided to to try something myself. My Wife smiled, and said she was proud of me. That in and of itself was enough for me.

Nice work on the holster! Also nice work on making the wife proud!! I may hold that as the greater accomplishment!!:p

Looks like your off to a good start!

If you haven't found it yet, here is a link to a leather working forum that is chalked full of info. There is even a section devoted to holsters and knife sheaths.

Thanks I will check it out! I got a notebook full of scetch's
of designs I wanna try this weekend. I will take better pics
not crappy cell fhone pics next time. Garage Dog, have you
made your own gun leather? If so where is the best place to order leather in bulk? I got a Tandy close by, but there kinda high on pricing. Do you know where I can score some exotic skin leather as well? Thanks all for the input!!

I've been buying mine from Tandy because I don't like buying un-seen. The nearest one for me is 2 hours away so I go when there's a Montgomery gun show and hit both. I have found a local shop that sells leather goods and they sell some sides so I'll be checking with them.
Keep up the good work.

Try this place. I have bought several hides from them. You may want to spend a few extra bucks and get the Hermann- Oak hides. They are far better than the Tandy hides from what I have been told. I get the 7-8oz. Don't be affraid to ask them to hand select a hide for you. Some are better than others!

Great! Thanks I'll check em out. I have also heard the oak hides stain better to. A guy told me the grain in the leather really shows up better.

Here are a few more that I have made. one IWB for my father in laws glock 26, one for my brothers Sigma, one for my 1911, and one for my baby eagle. They are getting better, but I still need to work on a few things. I spect it all comes with experience. Though I will say I'm proud of my efforts so far!

My first tuckable IWB, for a Glock 19/23. I just finished molding it and haven't dyed it yet. The clip attachment to the paddle sucks. The one I just finished for my Glock 22 is much better, but still not what I'd like:

Wow that's nice! I like the body shield on that one. I did one with a body shield for my father in law's Glock 26. I think I'm gonna do one for myself on the next holster. If you havent already check out the leather worker forum. It's pretty cool. I think I'm gonna try some other leather goods too!

My Glock 22 tuckable IWB prior to edging and dying. I used 8-10 oz. leather for this one. Probably thicker than it needed to be, but it's not going to wear out any time soon!
