So - SD as a replacement for the Sigma line?
Sounds to me like the plain jane Sigma won't be
around much longer.

As I recall, we had a poll on this very subject.

I think it's still open to cast votes and voice opinions.

Ya know I saved the picks and blew them up so i can get a better look and other than a beefier ejector and a change in the design of the sear block ( and a small one at that) they look the same ( althought its hard to see if there is a pigtail spring) the uppers look exactly the same internally only difference is the exterior slide machining, the sd9/40 seemed to be a little more refined mechanically like a next evolution.

Sear block is very different hard to describe without pictures, but the sliding cam is gone, only one moving part, the swing arm, and the only spring left is the pigtail spring.

Cut my own post off. Does anyone know of any reviews of the SD? S&W will probably come down on it's price eventually. Maybe under $400..........?

Great weapon, I sure like mine.
The trigger is far better than the Dungma yet not as good as the M&P, but for the bucks their is no better deal out there.

Handled my first SD40 today and it felt just like my Sigma 40VE. The price at the local gunshop was $449 and some change which I thought was kinda on the high side. If I didn't already have three handguns chambered in the 40S&W I probably would acquire an SD40 although I probably would buy it over the internet cause I can get it for about $85-$90 cheaper than at the local gun shop.

I'm thinking about getting a SD40... I have the SD9, have been handloading the .40 S&W for my M&P40, and have the urge to get a SD40 help to shoot the handloads. I load a little down, to lessen recoil, but above the "start load" for each bullet type.

My SD9 is quite a remarkable gun. Functions beautifully. Yes, the trigger is a little longer and the pull stronger -- but this is fine for a self-defense gun. Am waiting to see if Flork has any mods coming out to make it a little smoother. My M&Ps have Apex mods and my Sigs are DA/SA... the SD9 is my carry gun while hiking in the woods -- high cap, dead on reliable, safe to carry.
