Chicago at Carnegie Hall, 8 track and my mom went and bought some more so we would stop playing it!!
It is 1969, I am 8 years old and my mom is allowing me to buy my first record with my own money. I buy the 45 of "In The Year 2525" by Zager And Evans. It was the number one song at the time. I remember thinking about buying "The Theme From Dark Shadows".

My parents had a lot of big band records.
My Dads favorite was Glenn Miller. Later on I grew into Benny Goodman. I liked Gene Krupa on the drums. Dad didn't like him because of his drug bust.

I think the first album I bought was Moving by Peter Paul and Mary. I used to listen to it over and over when I was about 10 years old. As I got into my teenaged years I bought a bunch of Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Charlie Daniels Band, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, and Jerry Lee Lewis. I had weird tastes for a kid in the 70s.

I got started later, bought my first album in 75 when I was 14. Nazareth Hair of The Dog - now your messing with a ......... It was about as rebellious as I could get.
Bough an awful lot of albums from a place called moms on west colfax back in the day. First headshop I'd ever come across lol

Little trivia for ya. Watch the movie The Boondock Saints. When Rocco bursts into the apartment yelling, "Grab your ****!" The first thing he grabs is this album. Granted he was a little freaked out, but I think he showed excellent taste.

I loved krupa, as for the bust mitchum got nailed in '48, no problemo, another banger I loved was sandy nelson, I know the surfer drummer talk but whatever, you know who really blew me away..............
Karen Carpenter.........and when you are praised by buddy rich ya's got somepin goin' for ya.
She always considered herself a drummer who sang.

I cannot remember if my first was Fleetwood Mac Dreams or Peter Frampton Frampton Live. 'Twas one of the two.
My dad had a lot of old country western records. Roy Clark, Eddie Albert, Buck Owens and oddly Gordon Lightfoot who I would not classify as exactly country.
Funny I now listen to the music my father did when I was a kid and rarely any of my old rock stuff.

Now the first album I ever found up in my parents attic was Rusty Warren. Now that was something that put a smile on a ten year olds face!!
First 45 was Having My Baby Paul Anka (sp) Wife pregnant with 1st child.

Knockers up! Bust your boobies! I used to get up as a little kid at three in the morning, and listen to the old radio shows and the old comedy acts, we had a guy who dj'd old music at night, 30s and 40s stuff, some 20s, I got a great passion for bix biederbeck back then, mid 50s.

Same here!
I grew up in a logging camp in SE Alaska and there was no TV. Everyone had huge collections of music. My dad had a wider range in his taste in music than anyone I've ever met, and thankfully, he passed it to me and my sister.
My first album was Carl Perkin's Greatest Hits, given to me by my mom. The first album I bought with my own money was The Moody Blues "Seventh Sojourn". Both of these albums stand up to the test of time. And I agree with you on "Back in Black" (I didn't really care for AC/DC until this album) and Pink Floyd's "Animals". While "Dark Side of the Moon" has a special place in my heart, I think that "Animals" was their best.
