Allow me this momentary thread drift; my late friend, Stan Helton, was a Huey pilot in Nam. He went on to fly fixed wing heavies out of CVG. He retired 20 years ago to Orlando. He and his wife were introduced to Greyhound rescuing and plunged head first into it and adopted two. At the time of his death two years ago he had helped place over 50 Greys in good, stable homes.

He was a born comic who loved guitars, guns and Greys. You folks would have liked him.

Have met many wonderful people in the rescue program. Sorry to hear about Stan. Greys are very special Hounds, once they realize they have a real home they are fabulous pets. First one came from New Hampshire, she did not know how to walk stairs, took several weeks for her to acclimate. Got her from my friend in WV, he said she gathered all the toys in the yard and put them in a pile at the end of each day. Greys “ adopt” the sofa and bed and like to spread out, lol

I have been watching, selectively, and have enjoyed it. Even games where the USA isn't playing, such as today's Korea-Japan baseball game have been fun. That one because it was baseball as it should be.

I was cheering for the Canadian gals to knock off the USWNT, and wasn't disappointed.

I randomly caught one archery match by accident while channel surfing. That is all. It seems to me they mostly run these games for the media and the nationalistic propaganda.

Witness Simone Biles. There was more coverage of her struggles and her bronze medal than there was about anything else...including her stand-in that won the gold medal in the floor exercises. Can you name her without looking it up?

I never liked pro sports- after the America is bad kneeling started- liked it even less- can't say I stopped watching it as I never did.

Watching people chase a ball for mega bucks never appealed to me.

Rather watch a dog chasing a ball and have a great time- than watch a disrespectful clown making millions- while trying to make a point.

I haven't watched one minute of the Olympics. As soon as this kneel against America sentiment started I stopped watching anything involved in it.

I was pleased to hear about the US women's wrestler winning gold and being grateful to represent the USA.
Have not watched any direct Olympic coverage, but do watch the news updates.
The lack of pride and classless behavior have turned me off to some of these athletes.
IMO, this is neither the time nor place for you to protest!

This is the first year I didn't know anyone competing at the Olympics but it was still exciting to watch some of the sports. I watched the shooting events that were on YouTube and saw a lot more than the T.V. showed.

I liked the stories about the athletes and saw some amazing performances from people that no one thought would make it.

Some of the new sports still don't get my attention but they are trying to make the Olympics enjoyable to a younger crowd. I think 12 and 14 year olds are still too young to compete but they are beating the older competitors.

I must have been ahead of my time. Never watched the Olympics, Football or Basketball. Recently gave up on Major League Baseball too.

Major League Baseball. I remember that; Pittsburgh used to have an MLB team! Now it's a farm league team for the rest of the MLB.

I have watched some, mostly swimming, gymnastic, and track competitions. I have not seen any non-patriotic activities by any of the American athlete's.

Not saying there are not some, (woman's soccer, for example) but there are "sluggs" in every facet of life, and if you let them dictate what you see, do, and say, well then, they win....

Never really did like the Olympics in the past, more so now. I have better things to do with my time than watch a bunch of spoiled "athletes", many of whom should not be allowed to compete as they do receive money from anonymous sources. Amateurs? Not hardly.

Since 1986, professional athletes have been allowed to compete in the Olympics. (The organizations in charge of boxing and wrestling, I think it is, however, do not. So those guys are supposed to be amateurs.)

Added: Just read in today's newspapers that pro boxers have been allowed in the Olympics since 2016.

I have given up on most sports because of the politics and don't watch much Olympics. My niece is staying with us this summer and I have sat down and watched a little with her. I didn't watch any women's soccer on men's basketball and I was pleasantly surprised that I haven't seen any protests other than one female athlete that raised her fist when introduced. I think she lost any way, HaHa!

I have seen a lot of praise for GOD, family, and country and that still makes me proud. It's been better than expected and like always a few bad apples ruin it for the rest.

None of the summer games. I'm more the winter games type.

Gotta love curling, all the athletic prowess of an inebriated custodian. Right up there with cornhole and bingo.

I am with those who don't mix politics with sports or entertainment. I stopped watching pro sports when Kaepernick pulled his childish BS. The only sports I see are when I am someplace where there's a TV on and happen to catch a glance, e.g., the gym, a bar, friend's house, etc.

I have been catching various sports, mainly wrestling, judo and some shooting. Just watched Gable Steveson (local wrestler from Minnesota and named after the great Dan Gable) win gold with a take down for the win with virtually zero time on the clock.
