Wow. All I can say is amazing. I'm a .45acp guy, but this 44mag so nice and smooth to shoot. The recoil was totally manageable using 240g winchester wally ammo. At 7 yds my best group had all 6 rounds touching each other. Trigger in DA is so light and smooth. Only concern I had was the standard sights. My first couple of grouping hit about 1 inch left of center. So I moved the rear sight to the right and tried again. In order to shoot dead center I had to move the windage way right. I'm kind of anal retentive so the rear sight being way to the right (off center) bugs me a bit. Is it sometimes normal to have to move the windage so far to one side or the other in order to hit dead center? I'm thinking maybe it's me that's causing the sight picture to be off to one side? Dunno. Haven't shot enough to understand these things. I'm hooked, thinking about adding a 5" full lug and possibly a 4" half lug. .70 cents a round is damn expensive. Fortunately I just received the 44mag dies and conversion kit for my dillon 650. Should be able to shoot this bad boy much more now!!!

I have enjoyed my 629 Classic a lot. It is loads of fun to shoot!
This is a good group of people and I have learned a lot. They will have good advice.
When I transition from my J or L frame it sometimes takes me a few shots to get used to the grip size change between them-especially double action-I have small hands.

Welcome to the forum. dr.bear, and congrats on your 629. As far as the sight alignment, I wouldn't blame the gun or get too concerned yet. Now that you have your reloading dies, try making up some lower recoil rounds and shoot single action from a sandbag / rest. Work your way up and play with some different loads. I have found that my double action .44 mag groups can be off on any given day due to ME factors, and not the gun. I usually shoot some double, and some single from a sandbag to compare. There are just some days when recoil affects me more and/or I don't have a rock-steady trigger pull for some reason.

.44 mag reloading is fun.

Best of luck, and enjoy.
