It started out as a light clean up with some Flitz....then the kid in me who loved to polish engine parts and chrome trim took over. Not quite mirror, (the grain is there under the right angle) but nice enough.

Nice! You got it looking like nickel. That's one of the factory ported versions, isn't it?

Yes. Factory Power Port 6 1/2" barrel and target partridge front sight with blacked out rear. Not sure how many 629-6 with power port were manufactured, but the only ones I've seen have been -4 and -5 models. I love shooting steel with this thing.

It said 'Flitz' -heavy, so I had to look. The more recent year SS revolvers benefit greatly from extended polishing efforts. Did you use a polishing wheel or is that all hand work?

All hand. I alternated between Flitz and Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish with a cut up of old cotton t-shirt. Some small stubborn areas I used little pieces of Birchwood Casey Lead removal cloth with the Mothers. Once I was happy with it I went over it all lightly one more time with Flitz. It took several hours over a few nights. OCD sucks.

My first: 686+ and 620. Around 2008, the 6" barrel was a great shooter.
Both showed the same finish characteristics which left me with quite some desire for a more refined polish.
I never got to it, I moved on faster than I could polish them.

However, on my last 2 acquisitions which are posted in other threads, I may try some Flitz polish.
If I wasn't so lazy.

Looks nice, I came by a 629-1 that had had some polishing done, so I decided to finish the job and add some different stocks. I finally caved and sold it to a buddy who had been after me since the first time he saw it.

I am not a big fan of high polished stainless guns, but I was happy to acquire this 66 no dash that someone had got busy with. Turned out very nice with all the roll marks, screws, etc still sharp and proper. I admit I like the semi bright finish on the new Pythons.
