Per article - The number of concealed permits in Florida has nearly doubled since 2008. Putnam said he didn't know what accounted for the increase in permits.

Hmm, I can think of one.

Florida, Texas, Nevada, and all the other low-tax gun-friendly-states will reap the benefits from the high income earners fleeing California, New York, Hawaii, etc. Rich people didn't get rich by being stupid. Too bad we can't say the same for our elected officials......

I wonder how many of them are Illinois residents? Hopefully we will at long last be able to get our own CCW from our own state. Probably be a year or so but it will come, then how many FL permits don't get renewed.

As I read it, there are now 1 million "active" permits out and about. Not cancelled or expired ones. Of course a large number of them aren't in the hands of Florida residents or even frequent visitors. Its just a very convenient state to obtain one from and its accepted by a large number of other states.

Here is a listing of all types of licenses issued by Florida. http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/stats/Number_of_Licensees_By_Type.pdf

Any type W license is a concealed license so the total as of Nov 30, 12 was just shy of the 1 million mark. Concealed types are W ( regular folks that can carry), WJ for Circuit and County Judges, WR for retired LEO/CO, WS for Consular Security Officers.

W = 985,143
WJ= 556
WR= 7,458
WS= 5
Total = 993,162

There are lots of people with CWP in Florida who have then which really have no business having them too. And by this I mean they at least did not do the very basic things they need to do to get it. Florida's CWP process is VERY, VERY basic, one of the easiest to get as far as firearm education and training as well as education of the laws.

Watch this if you want to be offended. This is in my area, and honestly is not a news hatchet job

Shyster gun store owners like this guy illegitimize the CWP and honestly he does a disservice to his clients because they are potentially going to be ill prepared to use their gun or unaware of the laws which govern their use...

Someone at some point may try to use this against us, some anti-gun nutjob politician that is

Says who?:mad:

Shyster gun dealers aside, if an applicant can pass a background check, that's all it should take. That's all it takes in Georgia. Our state government still pretty well trusts its citizens to use common sense.

I personally know dozens of women who have been carrying .25 autos, .32 autos, and .380 autos in their purses for years, without any more instruction than their husbands/fathers/sons/boyfriends gave them. I don't know of a one who has accidentally shot herself or someone else.

My Mama will be 94 years old in January. She still keeps her .38 in her nightstand and it gives her lots of peace of mind. She doesn't need some glorified, camo-underweared ninja instructor to teach her how to shoot, and I don't either. In fact, I fear these commando wannabe experts with the 47 round clip glops and tacticool carbines who think they are experts a whole lot more than I do an average citizen who wants a gun for protection.

Every time I read something like your they "really have no business having them" nonsense, I want to puke. Do you realize what an arrogant, elitist, snobbish statement that is? Who is going to decide when "they really do have business having them?" You? Some government entity?

Despite your beliefs or views. We have a process in Florida. It's the law... The fact that Gawga does it differently matters zero to me. In fact, our CWP process is one of the easiest out there. With really very basic education requirements. And yet, they cant even do that?

Was that cute little ad hominem attack really necessary? :mad:

The fact was, they, through this shyster (now under arrest, by the way) gun store owner cheated the process, they really have no right to have a CWP until they go through the same process as the rest of us Floridians. This has nothing to do with a person's right to gun ownership, the 2nd ammendment or any of that, nor does it have anything to do with "elitism" or snobbery.

Did you watch the video? It should offend you that people like that are out there ripping people off.
