Can we please stop answering questions about the Slide Lock Lever, mag loading and the Recoil Spring Assembly and just let haters and trolls feed off themselves, and go in circles, chasing their own tails.

Honestly, I've haven't seen so much whining about nothing since nursery school....or so many questions asked and answered 100s of times since my kids were in the "Why" stage.

Sigh. New folks ask questions. Thread searching may not answer their specific questions. I think it's ok, though I answered my kid's questions rather patiently too, to the amusement of my father-in-law. He thought I was too patient with them! His method was just to ignore the kids entirely.

BigDog,I get your point, believe me. I'm no genius, but if I can give someone a helpful answer I think it should be part of forum courtesy. However, when it gets argumentive,as one thread recently did I drop out of it.
But,as redwing said thread searches should be done first, but they often do not answer the specific question. And,I like your posts on the Shield. We are in agreement on that pistol.:)

First a disclaimer: I have a Shield and I like it.

Maybe, like I do with TV shows I don't like, you can just stop reading those post?

Spirited debate is what makes the world go around.

I might have done something.....

I may be involved in something for years, but one day I realize or am prompted to pay attention to something that has been close to me, but I realize that I never thought or had the occasion to consider it. I wanted a Shield because I've zillions of comments that mostly say how great they are but some with reports of problems that only a few people have compared to the million they've put out. Now I have a Shield that I want to trust with my life and if there are bugs that keep it from working when I need it, I'm going to want to know about it. I think the cap on the end of the recoil rod looks flimsy, but am I going to have trouble with it?

I'm about to buy a shield when it comes in, it will be my first handgun. I guess I won't ask any questions about it on here after I get it or maybe buy a Glock instead.
Go ahead and say whatever you want within the rules of this forum, and pay no attention to the few here that wish to exclude through name-calling and bullying. They know how to scroll past any post that displeases them. Most members are here to be helped and helpful.

Brand or model specific forums like this one are where people naturally go when (1) they are researching a model and (2) when they are having problems. Because forums like this one have the highest concentration of people in the know when it comes to ______. They are also where people on other forums will send people to. So no matter what we do or how we do it, these people who show up in force with questions. If those questions bother you, and they do for all of us at some point, you just learn to pass them by and let the next generation of "experts" answer them.

I own 2 Shields (9 & 40). Before I bought my first one (40), I read every post/thread I could find on this forum, so I would know all the issues to look for BEFORE I made my purchase. With that knowledge, I made my purchases and haven't had a single problem or issue with either pistol!

I'm no expert and when I need good, solid information; you go to the folks who will know the most/best. For S&W handguns/pistols, it's this forum! I am pleased to be a member and try to help whenever I can; and I have been helped numerous times by the kind folks here-and I thank them each and every time!

So, for those tired of the same old questions, just go past them to something else. I don't personally read each and every thread here, just the ones that interest ME. Let's not shut anyone out, just because they need help; let's help them, so maybe they can help someone else in the future :-)

Can I.....

Can I shoot +P in my Shield?:D:D:D

I am one of those who initiated a thread about my RSA, not because it was news, but because my initial response from S&W was so strange that I thought forum members might be interested or amused. Subsequently, my experience with S&W became downright bizarre, so I continued to post. Along the way, I got a lot of good info from forum members, and I guess others did too. To date this thread (http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/432397-shield-rsa-one-more-time.html) has had 70 posts and over 5800 views.

For me, the most important thing was that the responses I got from our fellow forum members were encouraging enough that I stuck with my problematic Shield. It is now the excellent firearm that I expected it to be. So now I try to encourage new Shield owners who post here with RSA problems, by sharing my experience whenever I can.

I agree that there are too many of these types of posts. Unfortunately, they will be with us until S&W learns to manufacture and install their Shield RSAs with higher levels of quality control.

It is everybody's forum. We all started somewhere and asked questions that were repetitive to others. The revolver versus semi-automatic. 9mm v 45acp for carry guns, and Mossberg v Remington type questions are like the birds returning in the spring. It is good that new people are coming up and asking questions and others giving opinions. No one is forcing us to read anything here.

BigDog: Guess who sounds like they are chasing their own tail?
Most questions of a repetitive nature, are asked by new gun owners and first time posters! Most have no idea how to do a search for a subject they have not encountered before!
Give 'em a break and ignore posts you don't like!

I agree first timers may have questions, I understand that. Some of them might even be good questions. But how many times do you get,,,,,

This thing shoots low left, it's a piece of junk.. Why did the factory make it this way.. The magazine won't hold the number of rounds it is suppose to.. I can't get a fully loaded magazine in the gun..
This thing is not accurate because I can't hit the broad side of a barn with it. I know what I'm doing,, I've never had this problem before. etc. etc.

So, most have no idea how to do a search ... Maybe that's the question they should ask..
