For those on the fence about joining NRA

My gun club/range has some 650 members, all new members are required to have an NRA membership to join, and all members are required to maintain it, with annual proof during renewal.
If people don't like it, they're encouraged to find another club.

The club I am a member of.

All MVGC members are required to be members of the NRA. Bring a copy of your current NRA membership card or the label from a current issue of your NRA magazine. If you are not an NRA member you can fill out an NRA application from the MVGC membership committee and pay the additional $35.00 for a 1 year membership to the NRA. Membership proof will be required with each years MVGC renewal. It is the responsibility of each member to keep his / her NRA membership current.

My favorite statement.:) That's me:D

Members in good standing that have attained 20 years of continuous membership (no lapses) and are aged 65 or older are not required to pay annual dues. Eligible members must request this benefit in writing. It is not done automatically!

Just a point to remember Clarence Thomas wants to retire from the supreme Court...Or so it is rumored....that cuts down on pro gun court approval......do the math the president has two more years to appoint any replacement on the Court.....If one or possible two leave....Better t5o be safe than sorry.....Ask the Aussie's how that works. It is a numbers game......I'll stick with the NRA if for no other reason than protecting my gun rights....and a few other rights that some of our friends on the other side just might give up on.

So, Anyone join/re-up in the last week? Joe

Not in the last week but filed for a 3 year membership a few minutes ago.

I liken it to when I joined the union years ago. I may not agree with all of the tactics or actions that are made but I must support an organization that has provided the benefits I have today due to their efforts in the past.

I may be late to the party, but could not let the non-NRA members standard comments stand on the fact that the NRA only supports one political party. The fact is that the NRA only supports gun rights candidates. I will guarantee that all special interest groups only support candidates who support their agenda - nothing new there. If the strongest candidate in any race is a Decmocrat or Republican, the NRA would endorce them.

I received a Candidate Endorsement mailing from the NRA last week and find that there are 5 Democrats in Michigan that are endorsed over Republicans. It is a small percentage of the total number of candidates out there, but it is based only on a single issue. Every candidate got a grade based based solely on gun rights position and the highest grade got the endorsement.

I would ask all non-NRA members to look at the unions, associations, organizations, and political action committees they belong to and look at the candidates they support. You will find that all these groups pick their candidates for exactly the same reason that the NRA does, and that is to advance their special interests.

I am afraid that the bottom line is that the gun rights issues are falling behind political ideology with some non-NRA members, and that is a shame. The NRA would like nothing better than to support 50% Democrat and 50% Republican candidates and maybe with the help from both sides, the balance could change over time.

Me too. I used to be a member. Not anymore.

Once they stop being a right wing mouthpiece I will rejoin.

They only help canidates that are pro 2nd ammendment if they happen to be right wing oh well but they have supported a few liberals over the years. Maybe you should push the people you support to be pro 2nd ammendment. I have American Rifleman magazines dating back to the early 30s and they have been fighting for the right to keep and bear arms for a long time. If I was at home I would post how they were fighting the Sullivan law in NY.
