For those who carry or shoot their J frame. What ammo do y’all run

I have a 640-1. When I bought it in late 1995, I was young and tough. I carried it with full power 125 grain JHP Magnums. As the decades have worn on and there is more wear on me, I've started stoking it with Speer's 135 grain JHP 38 Special +P Short Barrel ammo. It is far gentler on my hand and wrist.

For practice: 148 HBWC's or 158 gr RN cast lead.
For carry: Speer short barrel 135's or my own load of Swaged SWCHP over a stout load of Unique

If I carry my 642 it's loaded with Winchester 148 grain hbwc. When I carry my 640-1 it's loaded with buffalo bore +p fbi load. I practice with whatever is cheapest.

When I carried my Chief's Spl. (M60-7) I practiced with 158 grain RNL or LSCW both in 158 grain standard velocity.

For self defense I used either Buffalo Bore 158 grain Heavy +P LSWCHP-GC
or Speer +P GDHP in 135 grain.

For those who want to carry a more traditional round, nothing beats the Remington +P 158 grain SWCHP "FBI load" - assuming it's still made. IMHO it is better than the Federal or Winchester version because of Remington's softer lead bullet.

A Sig P365 has now taken its place for EDC.

I carry my J frame an M&P340 in a desantis intruder IWB holster at the 1 O'clock or appendix position.

Mine has the crimson Trace LG-405's from the factory which really help with recoil on this airlite 357 Magnum. The ammo I shoot is just 158gr FMJ 357 Magnum at the range federal I think makes it. The load I'm currently using for carry are Remington 125gr 357 Magnum semi jacketed hollow points. I think it's from their "HTP" line of ammo.

I'm also planning on getting some 357 mag critical defense as well. Oh and I also have and use the 357 short barrel gold dots as well. Oddly enough I've not fired a single 38 special round out of my M&P340 yet. I'm interested in the federal HST micro 38 special ammo looks intriguing.

My next gun purchase is going to be a stainless Walther PPK come tax time next year. Mostly because I had an interarms one years ago and my dad had one I learned to shoot one,so there's that too. I plan to use it for occasional concealed carry,but it won't replace my trusty M&P340. I just love snub nose revolvers in 357 for EDC. I've owned and carries just about everything and I keep co me info back to the J frame it just works for me.
