Found a 627-0 today. Who has one?

Hi all,

I found a 627-0 "Model of 1989" that was manufactured in Oct of 1989 today at the LGS I work at. I will be getting a pretty reasonable price on it once I pay it off It has a serial number prefix of "BEK"

Who all has one? The SWSC states there were only 5,276 made that were marked "Model of 1989", however I know many of the PC ones were made.

Just curious...I really like the gun and its unfluted cylinder. Will compliment my other 1989 gun...

My 627-0 was the pride of my safe...a real safe queen. After "aging" in my safe I had to give it up in a trade for something I just had to have...can't seem to have them all...enjoy, they are really neat guns. And have a Happy New Year !

I have one of the early 627PC's with an unfluted cylinder, but I don't guess I've ever seen one as you describe. Be sure to post some pics when you pick it up.

It has a 5.5" or 6" barrel with unfluted cylinder, with Model of 1989 stamped on the right side of the gun. I'll be sure to get some pictures up once it's out of layaway.

I have one, BFK32xx. Does not have the original grips (RB combat's), but other than that is about perfect. A great shooter, albeit on the heavy side. I am not a fan of the looks of the unfluted cylinder, but it has kind of grown on me.

Since the beginning of the .357's in 1935, the top strap was checkered. The 627-0 was the last of the N frames with a checkered top strap. The barrel is 5.5" long. They also have the floating hand, which I ditch on all guns when I find them. Ilike the heavy N frame 357s because they really dampen recoil and make shooting magnums much more fun. I have small hands and heavy recoiling guns stike my thumb on the inside of the web right on the bone.
I really like them and may have to find a brother to the one I already have. I think it is a BEK as well.

Middle Revolver is my 627-0.

I put Hogues on it for the feel...the original grips aren't comfortable (they have been in the box since 1989, so are in good shape).

It's been worked on some.

Got some nice wood Hogues on it now. The original grips are safely tucked away.

I have a 627-0. It is the only non P&R "N" frame I own. It sat in the safe for years until a few months ago. Shooting a safe queen for the first time is like having bought the gun yesterday. The gun is a great shooter and absorbs recoil like a champ. I'm sorry I waited so long to shoot it. No more safe queens for me.

Absolutely. It appears to have been shot very little, if at all. The front of the cylinder has no circular black rings at all (granted, someone could have polished them off). I will take care of it, but it will be shot. Very sweeeeet trigger pull on it.

I have one -5 1/2 RB-Combats-1989-German markings and paper work. I don't have the SN in front of me right now. Great gun-handy-well balanced-unfluted. I shoot it occasionally. Definitely a keeper. By far my favorite .357.

I have one and it's not only my favorite revolver but it's the favorite of all the guys I go shooting with. I don't shoot it a ton but they are so sweet to shoot I can't imagine buying one and stuffing it in a safe.

Not correct.

The model 27, which is still in production, continues to have a checkered top strap. The first six
are modern 8 shot model 27s while the last two are current 6 shot 27s

Actually there were 5,276 of product code 101024 produced, not 5,276 627-0s.

Product code 101024 was introduced as a 627 and manufactured through the -2
engineering revision.

The -0 engineering revision is by far the most common version of 101024 seen.
The -1 engineering revision is the second most common.
The 627 being the 3rd most common.
The -2 engineering revision is the rarest of the variations of product code 101024.

Those of us that occasionally equip revolvers with a scope should prefer the -1
engineering revision over the -0 engineering revision since it is already drilled and
tapped from the factory. An older variation of 101024 would need to have it's top strap
drilled. The -1 also changed to the rounded rear sight.
