Found a 629!

You did very well - some might accuse you of theft! Here are photos of my 629-1 for which I paid $614 on GunBroker about six years ago. It had its original checkered target stocks on it but no box or docs. I shoot nothing but handloaded 240-grain cast semi-wadcutters at paper targets with it. For hunting, I use a five-inch 629-3 Classic DX but that might change, as intimated below.

I currently am resisting a strong urge to buy a new Ruger Super Blackhawk Hunter in stainless. I have scoped T/C Contenders and a Remington XP-100R but no revolvers. Decisions, decisions...

It's refreshing to hear there are still deals to be found out there. Nice snag!!!

Thanks, I was surprised to find it, for sure... That said, I’ve got a looooong way to go to catch up to your awesome collection of 629s...!

Yes you did well Padawan, Now that you have it you no longer have to look for it. Most 29's or 629's have not been shot much. They stay safe locked away until the need to sell them. good deal!
In 1997 I found this one for $515, but got the new Altamont Grips last year.

That’s a great looking Smith! I love the look of the un-fluted cylinders. Ive only got one, a 3” 686.

Congratulations! That’s how my 629 showed up. I wasn’t looking for it, but it was too good of a deal to pass up.
David

I've had that happen a few times, just went into the shop to look around. Saw something I wasn't even looking for, realized i simply HAD to jump on it...
