Well, what does one expect from the Washington Post. This isn't what this was about at all and, it was the people that started the protest. The people voted. What this was really about is that these two senators decided they would follow their party's agenda and totally ignore their constituents. They made sure public input was only from Bloomberg and other outsiders, told their staff to not answer the phones and to not read any constituent email/mail, arranged it so that public input would not be made by constituents, went against the wishes of their base. So, the people tossed them out for not doing their job. They were fired for gross abuse of their position.

Actually, a lot of us in these two Colorado Senate districts took a different view of this.

While the US Constitution's 2nd Amendment states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms "shall not be infringed", the Colorado Constitution states that the right of the people to keep and bear arms "shall not be called in question"; actually quite stronger as a prohibition on elected officials' actions.

My position all along has been that an elected official, sworn to an oath to support and uphold the Colorado Constitution, cannot lawfully propose legislation that limits individuals' rights to arms in any way, cannot vote in favor of such proposals, cannot speak in favor of such proposals, engage in or even tolerate other officials engaging in legislative debates over such proposals WITHOUT VIOLATING THE OATH OF OFFICE.

For many of us the issue was very simple: an elected official who has publicly violated the oath of office must be removed from the position of public trust. The recall election was simply the most expedient method of achieving that end.

Colorado has held statehood status since 1876. This is the first time in Colorado's 137 year history that members of the legislature have been removed by recall election. That alone should send a powerful message to others in office, as well as future candidates.

It is definitely a victory for us in CO, I wish I could have been one of those to vote them out, but I'm not in those districts. I did find this on one of the local stations, "Myths about the recall" and really found #2 very interesting/disturbing
