I just ordered the 500 round box of 9mm 124 gr. XTP Hornady advertised @ 44 cents a round from freedom munitions

I figured that's not too bad for quality new XTP Hornady hollow point ammo in my opinion, especially since the only hollow points I have seen being sold anywhere want $1 per round or more

well after I finally got my ammo in I found out it was a bait and switch! they advertised 9mm 124 gr. XTP Hornady yet what they sent me was just plain old generic no name brand hollow points made by freedom munitions NOT XTP Hornaday HP rounds. well I know better now so I wont make that mistake again!

they don't answer the phone for the online or the retail store and they wont respond to emails, they only take online orders but don't reply to online emails through the website

is it the end of the world? no.
will they work and shoot? yes im sure they will.
is it a decent price for generic HP ammo? I guess some might find it ok
will you get the same accuracy, expansion rates, and dependability as XTP Hornady? absolutely NOT

I wanted high quality ammo for SD rounds so these are not something I would have bought if I knew what they were going to give me.

I guess I just have a lot more expensive range ammo now, just wish I didn't buy 500 rounds of it.

yes I know, bullet placement is key, any bullet placed right does the job, blah blah blah, but when your bullet placement might not be as accurate in HD situations, I want every advantage (no matter how small) that a dependable high quality round can give me so a not so well placed shot still does sufficient damage

if you are going to order from freedom munitions be aware you are only getting freedom munitions own generic ammo no matter what misleading way they try to misrepresent it.

Exactly why they will never have me as a customer. I've heard to many horror stories about them over the past. I guess its a "hit or miss" type of thing. But i'd rather just take business elsewhere.

Maybe make a post on their facebook page? They seem to have someone that responds there.

I once ordered 1000 rounds of 115 gr FMJ 9mm from freedom. I ordered the NEW ammo but they sent me the re-manufactured ammo. I emailed them several times and never got any response from them at all. So I'm not very surprised by Keakar's experiance.

I believe that, when they say Hornady XTP they mean the bullets inside of their new and remanufactured ammo. You aren't getting the actual Hornady built ammo, but you are getting Hornady made bullets like this:

Hornady XTP Pistol Bullets | Brownells

All of their ammo would be packaged under their own Freedom Munitions label.

And from their site's About Us page:

Freedom Munitions uses only premium components from manufacturers such as CCI/Speer, Federal Cartridge, Lake City Arsenal, X-Treme Bullets, Nosler Bullets, Hornady, St. Marks Powder, etc. Our experienced machine operators perform a variety of quality checks during the loading process guaranteeing consistent performance round after round. Our inspection and packaging team visually checks every round, new or remanufactured,

I have not used any ammo from them but I know a few guys who have. It seems to be pretty good ammo but if they are advertising XTP loaded ammo it should have an XTP on top of it. 44 cents a round is kind of high for range ammo.

If you paid by credit card you're in a good position to get your money back should you wish.

I agree that this is what the site says. They are selling ammunition assembled with Hornady projectiles, they are not selling ammunition manufactured by Hornady.

It is easy to how a person might misinterpret the poorly worded for sale site, but I did not get the impression that this was an intentional case of attempted fraud.

However the OP appears to be indicating that the even the projectiles are not Hornady manufactured XTPs. If that is correct, either they made an error and shipped the wrong item (that needs to be confirmed with the seller) or they intentionally shipped incorrect ammunition in which case it needs to be returned for a refund.

That really sucks. I checked out their site. They posted their UPC and Product Codes. Yes they were shifty A-holes. But, they can not be labelled as "at fault", since they did not list a Hornady Product Code, UPC or claim it purely a Hornady item.

That's just plain cold.

I've had one or two bad experiences buying online, and been treated like ****. Last two times I have filed a credit card chargeback, and was quickly contacted buy the seller. I take no **** anymore, send me a prepaid mailer, or I'm not sending it.

I'm trying to understand what the OP expected and what went wrong.

From looking over the Freedom Munitions web site, it is VERY clear that all the ammunition is of their manufacture whether it is using new cases, or reloaded cases. how anyone would interpret that to be factory new Hornady ammo is beyond me.

If the OP ordered ammo that was to be loaded with a 9mm 124 gr. XTP Hornady bullet, but received something other than that bullet, I can understand the problem.

The web site is very clear to me that they are selling ammo loaded by Freedom Munitions, and not Hornady.

The OP ordered ammo loaded with XTP instead got a generic HP. Got it? I would stop the charge on the card, contact BBB, and let every forum, friend, relative know the situation and lack of service or response!! If I order speer gold dots I do not want golden sabers. If they made a mistake they should stand behind their product and make it right, if not they deserve all the bad press they can get. Be Safe,

Never heard a good word about that company from the dozens or so friends who have tried them none have ever went back - says something to me. They will never get my business. Hope it all works out for you.

Only bought new range ammo in 9mm from them but I have had very good luck. Sorry you didn't have a good experience. As others have said contact your CC company and dispute the charges. That will get the company's attention.

There are too many stories like this of online rip-offs dealing with guns and ammo. This kind of deceptive advertising sucks and the internet allows these people to sell things sight unseen. Buyer beware.

Buy in person even if it means a longer wait and buy from a business that has worked hard to develop a reputation of great customer service.

I regularly shoot Freedom's range ammo. Never had a problem ordering or receiving and never a stinker in the bunch. Personally, I wouldn't order HP ammo from any online supplier unless it were commercial product from Speer, Hornady, WW, etc.
