Fury, the movie

Well, I saw it and thought it was pretty one dimensional and very predictable. If I was going to direct and star in a movie showcasing me as the enigmatic multi dimensional hero I do not think I could have done a better job. That being said, the realism was top notch, the battle scenes sobering.-a very dark movie. I particulry liked the reference to WIllie Pete-I wonder how many watching know what that is. I'll not spoil it, but there was a scene at the end involving the new driver and a German SS soldier that was Interesting in the context of the movie and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around it.

It was cool seeing that Tiger in action though :D
I'd see it again but only on a big screen. Those who wait until netflix or DVE will miss out a lot.

I am just a simpleton, even before suffering a stroke, but I believe that this is snobbery (don't care if this spelled wrong) of the first degree!

All of us have various quirks. T-Star is a stickler for grammer and spelling. He does not mean to denegrate anyone. It is just a little personality tic. Like some guys -- a lot more sensitive than T-Star -- get all excited, virtually apoplectic, about "grips" vs. "stocks." (That one always makes me chuckle!)

Walkinghorse, we are just a buncha guys hanging out on an internet forum. Yakkin' away. Relax. No need to feel insulted. Just one fella exercising his tic. No harm, no foul. :)

I saw it yesterday and thought it was very well done. As the war was closing to an end, Hitler forced women, children and men of all ages to fight for Germany. In the end, I won't give it away, feelings on both sides of the war come into play and is shown on both sides in American and German soldiers killing human beings without cuase is unforgiving to mankind and useless. I commend all of the actors for an outstanding job in the filming of Fury.

Rumor was that he almost quit after "The 13th Warrior", but IMDb shows that he's still working.

Id love to see him do a new movie also involving Sirs: Roger Moore and--Sean Connery. Connery quit hollywood--same as Gene Hackman.:(

I'm looking forward to seeing this one. When Brad Pitt came on the scene I thought he would turn out to be just another pretty boy with no talent to back up his hansom face. Boy was I wrong. He is a VERY talented actor.

The first movie I saw him in was Thelma and Louise with Susan Sarandon and Gena Davis. I rolled my eyes back in my head. But he has made many movies by now that prove he has real talent and is a versatile actor. Seven, A River Runs Through It, Fight Club Just to name a few.

Well I misspelled Brad's name too but I corrected myself lest I wind up on the fires of propriety. Carry on y'all. :D

I just got back from seeing FURY. Very dark movie...the combat scenes were not sugar coated, and nothing looked glorious. I enjoyed it in spite of the spot-on observations of Caj.

New tank driver? Not a spoiler? I hope not!

Maybe the original guy flew his 25 and rotated home. Oh, no, that's B-17's early-on. Sorry. I haven't seen it either. No word on when it will be here, but my wife saw the trailer in the movies last week at some chick-flick so I have to believe it's coming.

I'm waiting as patiently as I can, and must say that it's not often I look forward to a movie these days.

Cocking your pistol one handed using the sights- hooked on a belt or object - was actually a real bit of German pistol craft. It remained a service requirement at least up through the Walther P5.

Interestingly, period photographs suggest that the Stg 44 was a prized item to have at the end of the war. US Army and French Army platoons have been shown in some photos to have a number of them. Some GIs also seem to have liked the G43 with scope.

My father was an officer with the armored engineers. He recalled that his Sergeant had a jeep trailer full of captured German weapons and carried a P38 in a GI shoulder rig.

The downside to having an Stg 44, whichever side you were on, seems to be that ammo was hard to come by.

Some came home with returning soldiers, and were amnesty registered in 1968.

The father of my friend Dan was a Vietnam era draftee, but spent his time in Germany. He remembers that there were old bunkers with stashes of German weapons that guys would get into.

While stationed in Stuttgart for a short period of time I was shown a huge parade ground that had a massive entrance with incredibly heavy wooden doors reinforce with heavy steel beams, chains and locks. I was told that an almost entire Panzer division was still there but US was told that it was boody trapped to the maximum and they never even tried to get in. That parade field was immense, it had to have been 100 yards wide by 300 yards long from memory. The entrance started sloping down a good 100 yards from the doors, heavily bermed on both sides and reinforced with heavy timbers. They still equip their troops with the best that money can buy. I was trying to work a deal on a German tankers coveralls but got shipped out, they were smart enough to install lifting straps on the shoulders of the coveralls so two guys could easily lift an unconcious driver out.

I am anxious to see it,...... I read that the German Tiger 1 used in it is original and the only working, running Tiger in the world and comes from a tank museum in England.

I look forward to seeing it. Some of the reviews claim it is "the best war movie in thirty years". This puts it over Platoon and Saving Private Ryan. That is a pretty bold claim, as combat vets have told me those two were about as realistic as they get as far as the combat was concerned. I wonder how this movie will compare, especially to Private Ryan.

My wife, I and her sister went to the Fury movie last weekend. My wife and I have been to movies like this before so my wife knew what to expect. Her sister lives a sheltered life and IMHO is not really up to date in reality. She set there and never said a word through the whole thing. I believe she was shocked at what she saw. Afterwards I asked what she thought and she said "I don't think I'm a war movie type". I would watch it again.

I probably will enjoy this movie, but, alas, I simply don't enjoy going to movie theaters. And, without going political, I don't care to contribute to Hollywood.

My last trip to a movie theater was to see Master and Commander in, IIRC, 2003.

It will be on Cable, either a movie channel or one of the Demand channels before too long and I will simply have to live with not seeing it on the big screen.

Worst case scenario, I can get it from Amazon or Ebay cheaper (if I wait) than it would cost for two of us (you really don't think I could get away with going to the movies without Her, do you?) to go to the theater.
