The bullets used in the Fusion loads are quality bullets.
I believe when they came out, the new Speer Deep Curl bullet was being loaded.
The bullet will work if the shooter does his job.

They are superb on deer at reasonable ranges and with decent shot placement.
I'll be inside of 100 yards at most so distance shouldn't be a problem. Think I'll go to the range and and give them a try.

Is this the same as the Federal Fusion? I don't think I have seen any Fusion as a company name, I'd be surprised that Federal would stand for letting someone else to use their copyrighted name.

Excellent hunting blammo. Federal usually makes really good stuff and this is one of those products. It works much better on hogs than your M855 green tip.

This was about 10-11 years ago, and I was visiting Federal's factory in Anoka MN on another matter. While I was there, I stopped in to see the Federal ballistician. They were firing some .30-'06 Fusion loads into blocks of ballistic gelatin, and I pulled some of the fired bullets out with long tongs. Expansion was absolutely picture-perfect. I still have those bullets somewhere, but I haven't seen them for a long time.
That's good to know. I haven't had a chance to try these out yet But I have always had good luck with Federal ammo. I just talked to a friend last night about a couple hunting spots near his place in northern MI. told him about this Fusion ammo and. He said they have a lot of coyotes around up there so he's gonna try some of these on them.

The Federal ballistician was very high on praise for the performance of Fusion bullets (fairly new at that time), also the .30-'06 in general. His belief was that the .30-'06 was the best caliber available for North American larger game hunting. I generally agree with that.

As long as you are not shooting at extreme ranges, the .30-'06 is about as versatile as you can get for use on almost any game in North America (and most of the rest of the world). With light bullets, it's even a pretty good varmint gun. Strange that it seems to have fallen out of favor. I was trying to sell a .30-'06 rifle I no longer needed several years ago. I had sort of a hard time, as no one wanted that caliber. Crazy.

We live in society where we are constantly being manipulated -- by politicians, people with personal agendas, manufacturers and retailers. People have been manipulated in to feeling the "need" (really, the desire) for new and "better" rifles and cartridges to keep sales up. In reality there is very little really new or better in the market these days, just the same performance levels we've had for several generations in different packages.
In truth, a hunter with a sporterized 1903 Springfield or 98 Mauser is in no way at any disadvantage versus one armed with the latest, greatest wonder-rifle firing the short-fat "magnums" that at best only equal their slightly longer and skinnier ancestors.

The proliferation of new calibers over the last 20 years or so has been amazing, especially those with short fat cases. I think many younger hunters must believe they need the latest fad cartridge, or else they will be at a hunting disadvantage. Or else they think that the old calibers such as the .270 and .30-'06 are hopelessly outdated and they are ashamed to be seen using them.
I just got back into deer hunting. so I needed new equipment, Clothes, and a few other things. Now this is the first time in 25 years since i have been hunting and I'm just blown away at all the stuff they have in these stores just for hunting deer. I don't remember seeing all that stuff 25 years ago. It's out of control.... I see people buying all these sprays to cover there scent... And the clothes they have out there now are so expensive. Now how did everyone including myself hunt deer 25 years ago and be successful? I used a pair of canvas coveralls,long johns,hat and gloves and a blaze orange something or other. Did the deer get smarter? hahaha So many gimmicks out there.

I have shot the 62 gr. Federal Fusion MSR in my AR. It is a bit more accurate than .223 FMJ or 5.56 FMJ. Haven't tried it on deer.
