Gauging intrest for drop in ambi safety

I talked with Battle Arms Development yesterday and they suggested offering a kit that comes with just 1 lever with an end cap, in addition to offering the 2 lever kit. The one lever kit would be cheaper and allow you to swap the lever from either side easily, and if you wanted you can replace the end cap with a lever later on.

Let me know what you think about the idea of a single lever kit.

Thanks
Jon

Thanks for the update on your progress. I think having both options are a great idea. Personally a 2 lever kit would be more beneficial for me as my other platforms are ambi. It appears that that most members are looking for an ambi setup as well.

It would be interesting to create a poll on this thread to see what others are interested in though.;)

Based on my shooting needs I would be interested in a metal selector, but only if in the $25-$35 range.

PM me price and PayPal info when you get the ambi ones ready for sale,,, cant wait... thanks

Right now the prototypes are scheduled to be made in a couple of weeks, then a production run will be done. I would estimate by then end of march they will be available. We are planning to stick with a two lever kit and a single lever kit with an end cap.

Good to hear. It would be great if there other levers would fit as well since I have some extra ones.

Is the 15-22 2-lever kit going to be the same 1x standard thick / 1x short thick lever selection as in the current BA 2-piece kit?

All of the Battle Arms Development levers will fit the new 15-22 safety center, so if you have extras you can use them.

It will be just like the current Battle Arms Development 2 lever kit with 1 standard thick and 1 short thick. We may have a couple of other kits with other popular lever options.

Just talked with Battle Arms Development about pricing. We may run an intro special that will drop the price, but for now this is what the kits will cost.

The standard 2 lever kit will cost $54.00.

The 1 lever kit with an end cap will cost $51.00.

$50.00+ for a metal selector? I think I'll pass. That's about twice what I would be willing to pay.

I don't understand the price being that high, to me, who is only an amatuer fabricator, you are only makeing a new center shaft and using existing levers. If I guess correctly, you are basiclaly only modifing the exisiting part for a standard AR and adding alittle length? I was really figuring around $30 to $35 shipped.

Guys, That is what the Battle Arms Ambi prices are for their AR15 version ones. They are top quality! You can count me in.

I guess thats why S&W uses a plastic one instead of metal on the $400 15-22.

Triggs75 is right. I understand the sticker shock some of you may have, but you have to take into consideration a few things.

First, the ambi selector they make for the standard AR15 is currently $60 with 3 levers.

Second, even comparing their AR15 ambi selector to other ones on the market, the ones from BAD are machined from solid bar stock steel, not cast or molded. While this process leads to better tolerances and a higher quality product, it is a more complex process and therefore more expensive.

Lastly, when only one company makes a product without any competitors they can charge what they want. It's just the way it is.

I do remember seeing some pictures on another forum of some selectors sticking out a bit from standard AR15 lower receivers, so you may want to try one of those on your 15-22 but it's not guaranteed.
