Gauging intrest for drop in ambi safety

i'm a southpaw who just got his 15-22 in the mail today & it became obvious after about 20 seconds: i absolutely want/need an ami safety switch. gonna be putting my order in later today. :D

Don't know if you know this or not, but until you get your ambi safety installed, you can swap the stock safety to the other side. It will be set up for southpaws like us. :)
 
I got my production run in the mail today, and the kids were fighting over who got it in their 15-22, mom pulled rank, it now resides in her rifle. It was a breeze to install, works like a charm, came with everything you need( minus levers ) and like Brett said Jonathan did a great job, My prototype is still working

Cheers for the heads up. Unfortunately, then my right-handed wife will have the same problem I'm having now. Between the two of us, if someone's got to bite the proverbial bullet, it's gonna have to be me.
 
Jon do you want the Prototype back for sentimental reasons? :) It worked perfectly! Heck it looks brand spankin new.

It's so great to see someone commit to a project like this and make it happen. The ability to have an idea and take it from paper to the reality is just flat out awesome!

And the final product is just what you would expect, perfect!

You can hang on to the prototype Brett, I have the one I took out of my rifle sitting on my bookshelf at home.


Giving everyone a heads up. I will be doing a giveaway in a few days for your choice of the 1 or 2 lever kits with any combination of levers and swag! I will start a new thread when it starts.

In a couple of days I will have the option up on my website that will allow you to select your desired lever combo with the 1 & 2 lever kits as there have been a lot requests for that option.

First, I want to say thanks to Jon from Simple Weapon Solutions for working with Battle Arms Development on getting this product to market. The transaction couldn't have gone any smoother and shipping was fast. A+ in my book!

I received my M&P15-22 Battle Arms Development-Ambidextrous Safety Selector (BAD-A.S.S.) yesterday and installed it right away. The quality of the components is excellent which was expected from reviews I've seen for the AR15 version. The selector has highly positive engagement with a crisp action and no play. It is undoubtedly far better than the stock plastic lever. I also compared it to the LMT ambi-selector I have on my AR15 and the BAD-A.S.S. is better than that one as well. The BAD-A.S.S. is in a league of it's own and I will definitely be getting one for my AR15.

The install would have taken only 5 minutes if I hadn't decided to take pictures of the process:

Here are the contents of the 2-lever kit: selector center, 2 levers (thin in this case), 4 star screws (2 not shown), detent, spring, wrench and instruction card (on back).

Difference between the OEM 15-22 selector detent and spring and the BAD-A.S.S. parts.

To remove the OEM selector, flip it to 45 degrees / halfway between SAFE and FIRE and then just use your finger to push it from the other side.

Next remove the grip screw taking care to pull the grip off slowly. Note that the rear take down pin's spring and detent are held in by the grip screw as well.

Install only one lever on the side opposite where the detent rides and push it in from the left side of the receiver. You will have to push down on the detent with something flat like a small screwdriver to allow the selector to fully seat.

Install the second lever or cap on the right side of the rifle and you are done. Lever to receiver clearance is perfect, even better than the stock plastic lever.

One nice detail I noticed is that the star screws have BAD INC cast into them.

Thanks again for the brotherly counsel. Now I got my 15-22 a bit more southpaw-friendly till I get my scratch together for proper ambi switch. :)
