El Paso Saddlery.

Seeing all the old timey S.D. Myers rigs, I decided I have to get something similar built for my duty gun. The Texican in me desperately wants a nice floral carved holster, single mag pouch and Ranger belt. Planning on wearing this rig for my plain clothes days.

El Paso Saddlery has pretty much what I want, but their website doesn't specifically state which guns all of the holster fit (some list guns by make/model, other simply state "fits most X sized semi-autos) I need to talk to someone to ensure the holster will be a good fit for the H&K USP40 Compact and P2000. I have called three times this week, gotten an answering machine each time. I have left messages requesting a return call, but as yet no call received.

I suppose they could be on vacation, but would expect the message would state that. All it says is that they are either busy on the phone with another customer or are closed, leave a message with name, phone etc.

I don't know who else makes a similar product for roughly the same price (or better), but if I find them before EPS calls me back I'll be dropping my money elsewhere.

Just feeling the need to vent a little.

MKT,

Your just beginning to be frustrated with El Paso...
After you place your order, expect to wait a real long time before taking delivery....

Contact Ray at Lobogunleather. He does great work and might be able to come up with what you want.

I'm less frustrated today. I tried one last time to call, this time waiting until the afternoon hours before calling and much to my surprise Don answered. I asked if any of the three holsters I was interested in were made specifically for the H&K. He stated they could all be made for the H&K, so a with little more discussion and thought I settled on one. I ordered the Thumb break Elite, #100 Ranger belt and a single mag carrier in russet brown, with full extra fancy floral carving. It should be a nice looking rig, a little spendy but nice.

Now I only have to wait the 6 to 8 weeks for my rig to be made. Pictures to follow when I receive it.

Uh, right... People in Hell want icewater, EPS customers want 6 week delivery, they all can anticipate disappointment. The difference is that EPS customers will, sooner, probably later, get what they want, and it will have been worth the wait...

Did you get the floral with the dyed background? Looks nice.
Have a good wait and I hope it is delivered as ordered.

While I will say the last El Paso saddlery holster was very nice and very well made, it took about 10 weeks to get to my mailbox.

Mickey,

Yes, the fancy floral gets the dyed background. I figured I'll go ahead and jump big. Also opted for having the holster lined, a last second decision. My thinking there was, well, once I retire it'll be my personal gun rather than my issued gun being drug around in that hunk of hide.

I consider myself to have the patience of a rock. Maybe this will be my test ;)

Wow, all my frustration was for naught!

When I ordered my rig I was given an expected delivery time that would have landed between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The comments about a year long wait caused my level to go up a touch but I'm patient. Well today, surprise of surprises, I received a box at the office. My rig arrived, and early too boot, only a month and four days after placing my order :D.

The workmanship is beautiful to say the least. A couple of co-workers appreciated the rig and understood why I had to get one, the rest just don't get it (remember, these are younger troops who don't even take their gun home). I don't have any pictures of it yet but will try to get some this weekend. I'm pretty sure y'all will appreciate it.

Now I can't wait for a plain clothes duty day to show off my gear.

I was gonna say................I ordered a Three Persons and belt for a 5 inch 27 and was told 6 weeks. It took a little over 2 months, but man it was worth it!!

I was able to grab a couple quick pictures today, nothing great and the lighting was poor. Took a couple with flash and a couple without just to be able to show y'all my rig. Someday I'll take a little extra time and take a good shot with better lighting (didn't feel like setting up the lightbox...I'm feeling lazy today).

My wife, and even the kids like this combo. The gun fit is pretty close to perfect and will require very little break in unlike so many of the holsters I've used over the years. The holster holds the gun close to the body and will work for open or covered carry.

What a thoroughly beautiful rig. Now I understand why people get worked up about these holsters from EPS. Wear it in good health! You've done your part to beautify America!!!
