Getting good coffee from Keurig

I use a keurig. I prefer it over drip, and I like strong brews. You just need to find the right kcup.

My favorite coffee to drink comes from lunch trucks in the machines below...

Apples and Oranges perhaps, but after getting hooked on the coffee served in Europe, I got a Super Automatic machine.

Found a Full-City Blend roast to be closest to what I like.

These machines make a cup or two in under a minute, with adjustment for water volume, grind fineness, and grind volume.

Automatically rinses after each brew. Needs a short manual cleaning about once a week.

Here's a few from a reputable vendor. Costco also has sales on them regularly.

Got to get a refillable and load up with a stronger grind. You can experiment with different brews but I agree, disappointing. We now run two pots in my kitchen, Mrs. Conrad drinks her K-cup Donut Shop and I run a little 4 cup Mr. Coffee.

I like my Keurig for the most part! My grip is the coffee is so so.. I picked up the refillable K cup so I load my own, Way cheaper and IMO better coffee! But the perfect cup come out of my percolator! Taks longer but worth the wait :)

My daughter gave me a Keurig. I struggled with it for about a year and finally put it away. I got the old stainless steel percolator out and I am back into good coffee. If it was a gimmick it was a bad gimmick.

I guess that I'm a little old fashioned. Last year I retired the old glass Pyrex percolator and got a Mr. Coffee.:o

Son has a friend that is a security guard in a foreign country for an embassy and when he was back in the states last time he brought back some Black Ivory Coffee .. The bean is eaten by elephants and then after being digested it is collected and sanitized and then roasted .. ground .. and served .. a cup going for $50.00 ..

Very unusual taste had a sweet overtone .. and was very good .. he made a pot for Christmas and the coffee drinkers all tried a cup .. he figured it was the most expensive pot of coffee he would ever make .. figured it was worth around $400.00 ..

Umm, yeah...NO.. don't think so...

Actually, right at this moment, I use Green Mountain Dark Magic, which I believe has NOT been cycled through an elephant, and it's pretty good in my Keurig

Since I am the only coffee drinker in the house, I like the single servings. It allows me the chance to try many different blends without having a bunch of partial bags on the shelf because they tasts like brewed cigarette butts.

We bought a new Keurig just before Christmas that heats up
the water in a container attached to the back. We brew the
Dunkin' Donuts " Original Blend" that we get at Costco. To
me, it is very strong coffee and I have to add a little extra
1/2 & 1/2 to dilute it a bit. And yes, I wish it would give a
bit more coffee in my cup. ;)

The wife had to have Keurig last year for Xmas.
I said baby "I'll buy you the best regular coffee maker they make". "Just don't make me buy you the fu fu thing please"!!!!
11 months later the wife says. "We can't afford this coffee maker anymore"!!!!
I jumped for joy and jumped right on buying her the stainless Mr Coffee maker for Xmas this year.
All is right with the world again. :)

I usually make a pot for myself in the Mr Coffee and my wife has one cup of decaf a day in the Keurig. When I use the Keurig, I like the San Francisco Bay k-cup called 'Fog Chaser'. Very dark and very bold.

If it has the serving selector you can select 8oz & then 4oz (or whatever) for a nice big cuppa Joe. Just make sure ya got enough cup. No interruptor on the Keurig! ;)

^^^ With the same k-cup. :) Just open and close the thing when it's done, then select the additional amount. Not watered down at all.

I buy the Costco brand Coffee for My Keurig and it tastes great.

We have had 2 K-cup machines, the # 1 and #2,both did not made good coffee even with using my own fresh roast coffee. We went back to our Bunn drip coffee maker. When I am alone I make coffee in a French press. We get all the flavor from the oils. and the longer let it steep the stronger it gets. My wife likes her coffee weak and with creamer.

Not much for me to add with all of the sage advice from the previous posts. I've had a Version 1 Keurig for about six years. It went five years before it clogged and needed de-scaling. I attribute this to my use of distilled water. I also like strong, bold brews, and I haven't found too many. However, here are a few that I like:

Emiril's Big Easy Bold
Community Coffee Dark Roast
Newman's Organic Special Blend
Coffee People Black Tiger (This came as a sample with the machine. It is the strongest Keurig blend I've had, and as I recall, it once kept me awake for nearly 24 hours.)

We buy most of our K-cups at Bed Bath and Beyond because we get lots of 20% off coupons from them.
