Meanwhile, is there any way to get a refund on a Mayan calendar? Also, will they come pick the thing up? It's too heavy to take to the dump.

Engineering is part of the scientific discipline and through science solutions are found.
If they are true scientists and engineers, they will save themselves.
As this is not the case, they likely are not really scientists in the classical sense, thus, frauds.

This Global Warming is gonna kill us all dead. Those glaciers are gonna melt and flood the world. I just heard it was -135.8 degrees in Antarctica. If we keep driving those eeevvvilllllll SUVs it will raise the temperature to a blazing -134.7 degrees.
The glaciers will melt overnight.

Ya just got to love it. A bunch of climate change scientists (read global warming) are trapped on a ship in the Antarctic ice. Even ice breakers can't get through the ice for rescue.
And they expect the rest of the world to risk life and limb to go save their carcasses. I suggest they just let them wait till the climate changes and the ice melts on it's own.

I was ten at the time and as kids we joked about it and if we were going to be eaten by polar bears
To my knowledge, there aren't any polar bears in the Rolla Missouri area yet.It's interesting to follow the madness of these people.
By the 80's it was the hole in the ozone and we were all going to have to live underground to survive.
Come the late 90's and it's now the first stages of global warming. Sea levels are going to rise and places like Kentucky and Oklahoma are going to have beach front property
.Now it's the late 2010 or so and it "Climate Change". Bigger and badder storms, drought, hurricanes, blizzards, human sacrifice, dog's and cats living together, mass hysteria and the like.

How come every time there's hysteria about global warming frying the planet, the remedy always seems to be raising OUR taxes and shutting down OUR industry. If there's a big hurricane on the way the warmers scream, "We must stop this! Hurry, United States! Sign this treaty real fast and cut a zillion dollar check to the U.N. before it reaches land!!"

Now why would someone fake something like this? Propaganda anyone? That image was created and promoted specifically to fill your head with lies.
The science is clear that the world is warming, and humans are the cause. We can argue about what the effects will be and what to do about it, but claiming it is not happening is just sticking your head in the sand. This military takes this seriously, so should the rest of us.

...Which started out as a steaming hot cup of coffee until global warming got it.
Now the original ship is stuck and the icebreaker that went to save them is also stuck in the ice. It is their summer down there!
But get this, and watch your tax money at work. now the USA is sending an icebreaker to get the two already stuck ships free, sorry to say it, but the way things have been going for our country lately ours might get stuck too!
