I picked up one of the new Glock 48, 9mm last week. It has factory night sights, and built in Austria.
First of all, the color looks much better in person that in photos, and even better once I applied G96 to it.
When I first picked it up, it felt very good in the hand. The slim width is very noticeable in the hand and the gun seemed to point very good. The trigger wasnt too bad either, for this kind of gun.
I tore it down, gave it a coat of G96 , put 2 boxes of ammo in the bag, and on my lunch break went to the local indoor range to see how it shot.
That's where the trouble began.
I shot both boxes of ammo, not a single hiccup from the gun, the empty cases ejected somewhere away from me so as not to even be though of.
Magazines loaded easy, ejected positively, as in normal glock fashion. Looks to be a solid, reliable handgun in normal glock tradition, so what's the problem?????
I wasnt hitting the target!
Seriously, I am so used to Glocks hitting exactly where I want them to, that I am disappointed in this one. Low left, low left, adjust grip, low left, low left, support trigger finger, low left, low left, hmmm , slide bite, lower it back down,
Even my groups were not very tight. Granted, I rushed the range session due to time restraints, probably popping off rounds every 5 seconds or so , but still, this isnt normal for me.
Attached is a couple photos, shooting at approx. 12 yards.

I have found when shooting single stack (G43 and Shield) the thin grip causes me to pull rounds to the left.

I have to put more finger on the trigger and shoot them like a J Frame to get them lined up.

I'm thinking that, had hard time getting my finger where I'm used to, I'll have to spend some more time with it.

I also recently purchased the new G48 and I absolutely love it! I appreciate the full hand purchase and the 4"+ barrel for full ballistic performance. The thinness of the grip feels great in the hand, and after 700 rounds, it has been completely reliable, accurate and well balanced. Once I find a holster to my liking, it will become my EDC/CCW. Although this is a Glock, it doesn't feel like a blocky Glock, but an ergo friendly pistol. IMHO: this is the best single stack offering since the S&W 39-2....and the 3913's series.

Your groups aren't bad, why not just drift that rear sight a bit?

Becouse, for a 4" barrel at 12-13 yards, I'm a better shot than that. For example, attached are some targets , same range, same distance, and all with guns new to me, just purchased. Got a full size 1911, a 4" .357, and 3" 44 magnum. You would think the 9mm glock should be easier to shoot than any of them, but here are the first shot targets..I really expected myself to be able to produce a much tighter group with this gun.

I'm not saying that it is definitely NOT the pistol, but a majority of the time, this problem is the shooter having not 'learned' the pistol yet.

Treat the G48 as if you were a brand new shooter and go back to basics. Start at 3yds and focus on your grip, trigger finger placement, trigger press and follow through.

If you watch your hands (or have a spotter watch your hands), you will probably find that you are twisting the pistol left, a fraction of a second before trigger break.

If your other Glocks are double-stack, this slightly thinner grip is going to change your trigger finger placement and you will (as others mentioned) need to use a different portion of the pad of your trigger finger (possibly closer to the 1st knuckle joint) to achieve a straight rearward press.

Dry fire practice, watching what your hands are doing, will most likely allow you to see what's going on.

I have not had the opportunity to try a G48 yet, but when I bought my Shield back in 2012, I had similar problems. I went back to the basics and everything fell into place.

I totally agree with you (how the G48 feels compared to the 39xx series), but apparently I you and I are the only ones who think this, as I asked about this on Feb 01, and all I heard were crickets...........

Glock 48 vs S&W 39xx series

Oh, I'm sure it's me. There is no reason this gun shouldn't be a fine shooter. Just worried the small thin grip in my big hands might just not be ideal . This was to be my new EDC,
All I can do is spend some more time with it

With respect, a light weight small pistol chambered in 9mm is going to present more of a challenge to shoot well than a full sized 1911, a full sized 4" .357 or a full sized .44 Mag. It just simply is not as easy to grip the small pistol, handle the trigger, etc. It is not unlike having to learn how to use semi-auto w/ a DA/SA trigger system, i.e., you simply have to make some adjustments. Sincerely. bruce.

Shoot it off a bag and see if it is still low and left. I did that to answer the "gun or me" question with a Sig 250C in .380 that was 2" right all the time at 7 yards. Turned out it was me. I know, you're all shocked. ;)

I picked up a new G-48 and have run about 200-250 rounds through it. First 50 or so it was hitting 8" to the left at 20 yards. I pushed the sight to the right a little and centered it up. Accuracy is about the same as with my G-43...4-5" at 20 yards. I love mine!

I handled one at my lgs and it felt like a very small gun.
Was thinking it might be similar to a G19, but just a bit smaller.
I have large hands, and no problem with regular size Glocks.
The 43X and the 48 are not for me.
I do have a 19X which I like.
