I prefer to think of it as, "Go Annapolis, beat West Point..." 
It isn't surprising that USMA has a hard time fielding much of a football team. Their Cadets have to be in compliance with AR 600-9 (Height/Weight regulation) by the spring. There are not a lot of 320 lb linemen in NCAA that will do well on the Army PT Test either.
