Good Bourbon For A Present...And the pick was??? #77

This ought to get 5K replies from our informed members. Have a buddy that is a bourbon guy, that I would like to get a Christmas present for ...a bottle of 'good' bourbon not Pappy but something in the under $100 limit.

Anyone have any experience and recommendations in that price range?

Me, I'm very happy with the double oaked Woodford Reserve. A recent find and brilliant, neat. Good and inexpensive also is Buffalo Trace. A BIG bottle!

I make Bourbon Corn Pudding each year at Thanksgiving. This year I used Maker's Mark 46 and received more compliments on the taste and aroma than the past 10 meals combined.

I don't know what it is about the vintage, but it has an incredible aroma and taste. I think it is only $30-$40 a bottle too.

In bourbon, $100 will get you a good one.

If it's a present, go for an impressive bottle.

Willett's, Blanton's, or a cask-strength Makers Mark would fit the bill.

All great bourbons, and you can search google-image to look at the bottles.

I'm more a quantity guy over quality. You may want to look elsewhere for ideas. I'd say "Get the big bottle!"

Weller antique or Weller full proof. Eagle Rare is another good one. As already mentioned,Blantons and Willett are both good. Depending on your location any of these can be hard to find. Good luck in your search.

Angels Envy is a pretty smooth sipping Whisky....go for around $ 55.00 a bottle; buy two.

Get him a bottle of Booker Cask strength, if you can find it. The bottle come in a 5 sided wood box with a clear plastic front. Under $100 and nice!

I'm not a bourbon person but my chef son seems to think highly of Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve. IIRC, it's bottled at cask strength, 120 proof.

FWIW, my favorite is Blanton's Single Barrel. I've seen it go for anywhere from $60-100. It can be hard to find, though.

It isn't bourbon but, Tennessee whiskey. I would suggest a bottle of George Dickel Bottled in Bond.
