From the Philadelphia Inquirer:

"As the (two) officers approached the (suspected) gunman, he lifted a .357 magnum handgun, firing through his clothing, and striking the officer in the chest (fatally)."

"Police said the suspect, who had been wearing a bullet-proof vest, has a history that includes robbery and weapons offenses."

Note this guy took on TWO cops. He got shot up, but not killed. These guys don't care if they get killed. And they come on to you ready for anything (note the vest).

If you find yourself up against one of these animal-like predators, you better be ready to take care of business fast and hard, or else give him what he wants. Otherwise he'll be laughing and bragging to his fellow gangbangers how he blew you away.

(Hint: it's also possible for you to wear a vest - see some second-hand sources on the internet - and shoot through your pocket, with the right gun.)

Officer also had a vest on, Bullet landed just above the neck opening.
AND this all took place no more than 1 1/2 miles from my home.
My neighborhood is odd, It is nice and quiet on two sides, and the other two, Well 1.5 miles away in the S and W direction arent too good. Gateways to the internal heck of the neighborhoods surrounding Center City Philadelphia!
Seems as though the Perps just have no respect for the police or others for that matter.
Chief of police commented about the Perp getting to the EM room a little too quick,,, EM rooms doors are 1/4th mile from shooting.

I do wear a vest. One doesn't have to buy them second hand. Galls, Bulletproofme.com and other sources are happy to sell factory fresh ones or you can get one shipped in from Israel if you're bargain hunting. Galls is having a sale right now in fact.

Vests are something of a status symbol for drug dealers.

One popular training drill (for those so inclined) is to stitch a triple tap with the first round being "neckline high" on the torso -where armor would end and rounds two and three going for the neck and head. Works best up close.
