Got a Shield Plus

The new Shield Plus owners that also own the Shield 1.0 assuming still have the factory 1.0 trigger how is the new trigger and how does it break? My 2.0 Shield hits the wall then breaks clean and wonderful improvement over the 1.0 Shield. The new Shield Plus trigger is supposed to make it more accurate so will be looking forward to your range reviews.

I got to dry fire a Plus. The 1.0's trigger has a wall and a snap, but it's a little mushy. The Plus's trigger just has a short area of resistance, then a pretty clean break. I really like it and may need to buy one.

The grip texture is like maybe 100-120 grit sandpaper, but the grit seemed to vary - smoother on the sides, grittier on the front and backstraps.

I have both a P365XL and a Hellcat. And I just bought the Shield Plus. I like the Shield Plus and put about 50 rounds through it at the range over the weekend. It was very accurate for a small barrel ultra compact pistol. The trigger was very nice.

The thumb safety on the Shield is tiny and not smooth. That was the biggest issue for me. My P365XL has a thumb safety and is very smooth with a nice easily accessible lever. The Hellcat has no safety, and IMO doesn't shoot well. Not sure why I bought it and will probably sell it soon.

Other issue for me is the grip is big on the Shield Plus. It's actually larger than the P365XL, especially with the extended mag. Not being able to find mags and holsters is another temporary issue. Hoping to be able to find both and start to carry this pistol.

Springfield came out with a Hellcat with a manual safety. I saw it last week when I picked up my Shield. And the Hidden Hybrid and Desantis holsters for my Shield 1.0 work perfectly in my Shield Plus.

And the safety in my Plus was stiff and kind of irritating when I bought it last week. I fired 36 rounds through it yesterday and it's already loosening up and flick off much smoother now. Not quite a smooth as my 1.0 but I'm sure it will continue to loosen up.

I picked mine up last Friday and I pretty much echo the comments above. I like the trigger safety and cannot feel any edges on it. The trigger is nice and crisp. As best as I can tell, the pull is about 5 lbs. It's hard to measure as the flatter trigger shape makes it hard to keep my gauge in the right place.

I think the grip is slightly larger than my first generation but that may be my imagination. I like the feel.

I think the gun is a winner.

I picked up a Shield Plus last week and I'm very impressed. Does anybody know about the availability or source for spare magazines?
I too picked up a Shield Plus. Will go to jail (FFL) to pick up this week, I hope.

Mags are nowhere to be found. Lots of Forum traffic traffic on this already. I checked with numerous guns sites this past week and all are Out of Stock. Thats what happens with a new gun platform.

I am hearing it may be 4-6 months to get S&W to start to crank them out. I hope others begin to sell them sooner.

There is an OEM 13 round mag bidding for $87 as of today. Normally, these will be $35-40 each. We are now in the waiting game my friend.

I saw one last week at the gun show. A small dealer had it, & knowing it was the only one in the building, he priced it at $649. It remained unsold at 5PM Sunday. That being said, I'm not going to buy one, even for $549. I have 2 original Gen 1's, that cost me $279, & $220. I keep a spare mag on the other hip. If this gun came out a year ago, it'd have been $400-$450. I have plenty of guns, so I refuse to pay stupid inflated prices due to politics. I work for several FFL's at local shows, & it seems most buyers are first timers who have no idea what a gun should cost. So since they want it now, they pay stupid prices. Never mind the previous 4 years where prices were the lowest ever. So I'm keeping my 2 original Shields. GARY

I had the same experience with the Hellcat. I loved how the gun feels in my hand, but I am unable to create consistent groupings. IMO, the problem is me and how it fits in my hand (I don't have this problem with my Glock 43 which supposedly has inferior grip).

I have a Shield .40 2.0 and if I can use the same holsters, I am all-in on a new Shield 9mm Plus.

The Shield Plus corrects nearly all my complaints w/the Shield 1.0:
Better (but not too aggressive) grip texture, better trigger, extended mag release, greater capacity and better (but still stiff) slide release.

I am *very* happy w/the Plus.

Is that the case? I asked the folks at Vedder when they would be supporting the Shield Plus and their answer was they were working on it.

I just bought a Vedder Light Tuck S&W Shield 3.1" bbl IWB holster for my Shield Plus it fits perfectly w/no issues!

I put Ameriglo night sights on my Shield Plus, and I'm happy to say it wasn't too difficult replacing them. I was an NYPD Armorer and S&W always installs their sight's with a Hydraulic Press and Red Loc-Tite's the rear sight set screw! I've changed the sights on numerous M&P's over the years and it was always quite a chore however my S&W Shield Plus sight's were extremely easy to change!

Yeah, could be me. But whether me or the pistol, the fact is the result isn't as good as other options. And the smaller flush mag grabs my pinkie.

Someone mentioned the Hellcat just came out with the option for a manual thumb safety. I wish I had known that was coming. I screwed the pooch all around on that purchase I think. May get an ankle holster for it and see if I like it as a backup gun or when I can't carry on my belt.

Shot my plus this weekend. Flawless as any other. Just steel target shooting, not for groups. Pleased with this pistol.

I have the same line up and the Plus is replacing my Hellcat as my EDC. My Shield PC (favorite) or Walther PPS M2 were my single stack sub compact EDC's but then high capacities arrived and I became a capacity *****. I have some small annoyances (loading, racking) but am thrilled with the arrival of the Shield Plus and it's range performance.

Guess the local shop I stopped in today by me isn't the only one crazy enough to try to charge $650 for the Plus. And I thought the first shop I checked was bad asking $600.

But I'm with you that I'm having a hard time dropping even MSRP for one of these when 3 years ago I got my 2.0 Full Size 9mm for just $350. Maybe in a year or two...

I have the 2.0 Shield L/E package 3 mags and night sights also a Hell Cat , my son just got the performance center shield plus , they have one left if I want it I should be there when they open but I just can`t see getting it with what I have ???

Don't blame you. I was very happy with my shield PC's but after the 365 arrival I became a capacity ***** then added the Hellcat due to liking and shooting better than the 365. Then the plus showed up and couldn't be happier. For me the Shield has always been the perfect EDC but since I don't carry extra mag's I bought/carried capacity. Waiting on a 4" plus to swap for my 4" PC. When they make the Shield PC45's 10 +1 I will be thrilled. I appreciate your willpower to hold steady.

I traded an old Mossberg 500a pistol grip shotty and &100 for my Plus :)

I've got Shield 1.0 9mm which I just added the Arachinid (? spelling ?) slide grip. Trying to decide between a Shield Plus to get upgrades and higher capacity..or.. Shield EZ because my 81 year old hand strength makes range practice easier. Plus seems way to go. Comments appreciated.
