got new to me 36-1 today

I picked up a 3in nickle 36-1 ser#J88xxxx today.looks brand new. I looked it up in my SCSW they made that gun in a square butt this has a round butt. Any comments to enlighten me on this purchase would be welcome.

I have a pair from 76, Both round butt heavy barrels.

Pardon the appearance of the pair, They are both unfired with original Smith and Wesson grease, Consecutive #s as well, Need to get them lettered.

Nope, Pred is correct. Book, SCSW, indicates 1981.

They were asking 385.00 but I traded a Taurus 24/7 pro compact in .45acp straight across for it at a pawn shop.
